Let's not be obtuse. The labels and disparagement point to an underlying hatred and disgust. Want context? Spend more time reading P&R threads, both going forward and what had been written in the past. It's a shame that there can't be more adult dialogue even when there is intense disagreement. And I don't mind insults in the slightest. I give as good as I get. But when people start disparaging entire populations of minorities and always assume they are at fault, it's over the line and not worthy of what is otherwise an entertaining site to visit.
I'm sure that TGregg has got the message, now that he has been whiplashed publicly. It's up to Baron to moderate his moderators.
I don't read the P&R forum. The only reason I am aware of this topic is because the complaint was posted outside of that forum and popped up on my Recent Posts list. So I don't know the posters involved. But my life experience tells me that people who complain about labels and offensive language feign this kind of righteous indignation when they run out of facts to support their view and have no place else to go. It's a classic maneuver when you are losing the argument.
Really? I thought it was the incessant labelers who ran out of sufficient facts and had to resort to broad brush characterizations. But thanks for sharing.
It is quite easy to adhere to and enforce whatever rules exist on the website - but are suspended in a forum where a warning is posted that users with whiny and tender dispositions are encouraged to stay out. I notice all those here leaning left don't have any issue when one of their flock throws around derogatory commentary and rains profanity upon the P+R forum. That must mean that the motivation behind this is partisan, not race related. Personally, I don't like when Futurecurrents, etc. talks like a truck driver with Tourrete Syndrome, but those are the rules (or lack of) we operate under. As for the OP of this thread, please read some background on him.
None of which is the point, the point being the manner in which persons in authority are expected to conduct themselves. It has nothing to do with left or right.
Your point might not have something to do with any of that (though I doubt if someone posted a thread in here about Futurecurrents the moderator you would be second in line to shout "yeah!"), but the OP is certainly pushing an agenda - and one previously brought up in this forum multiple times. Regardless, Baron has spoken and that - as you said - is that.
Again, FC and whatever agenda the OP might have are irrelevant. If Gregg wants to air his views without blowback, all he has to do is adopt an alias for them.
Except that there is a rule about multiple accounts, but that's a fair point. When I moderated here years ago, I suggested that all moderators have a personal account so they wouldn't be perceived as taking sides, etc. At the time, I believe Baron thought it was a good idea. This account (Tsing Tao) was my personal account. Of course, it's my only account now.
