does anyone know the real reason why the EU reached the agreement suddenly?

Might have to do with that whole pesky "out of money" thing.

The thought did cross my mind... what if they go through a charade of reforms... then as soon as they can, the first significant chunk of money they get, spend it to stabilize the system and buy gold/hard assets... maybe short a bunch of European stock futures... and then suddenly Grexit. Seems like something these guys might try.

  3. YES! And Poetin will give them 2500 billion euro to buy all the shares on all european markets. Then Poetin will invade Greece, take all these shares and be the boss in Europe. And he will kill Tsipras to be sure that he will not try this again on Poetin.:D
And Poetin will tell Obama that it was not him, but Russians who voluntarily wanted to protect the Russian population in Europe. They will all wear clothes without any Russian signs on it.

After two weeks of banks being closed, very limited ATM cash, no paychecks, businesses closed down, and credit cards not working the Greek population woke up and recognized that everything could get much shittier. Time to accept a deal.

I think in the end, Germany realized they didn't really want Greece to leave, and Greece realized they didn't really want to leave, so they worked out a deal.

Didn't Tsipras's wife tell him she would leave him if he was to accept?

  9. You've definitely come to the right forum. ET crowd always has the inside scoop on sensitive multinational negotiations.
