Does anyone here understand a lot about international wires, ABA numbers, Fedwire and payments?

Not sure my thoughts will help. I do both send and receive international wires every month.

It's my understanding (right or wrong) that most USA banks will have a default intermediary bank they usually use when sending intl. wires. 9 times out of 10 i can just use that and send to anywhere, if i have the SWIFT number of the bank I'm sending to.

Many-most times i discard the intermediary bank suggested by the company i am paying abroad and substitute my banks intermediary bank instead (which is Citi). Sometimes that won't work.

Most USA banks do not have a SWIFT code but a few do. It makes it easier when sending from some places to USA if your bank does have a SWIFT code. Of course the intermediary bank is meant to cover for that and will, when you get it, in the format they require.

If you can contact the correct person at your sending bank, they will probably solve it within 30 seconds. Odds are you will have to re-configure your wire template to match the advice they give you and resend.
