Is this just a faster service, or will demand increase because the reception is better? Why would anyone care that your daughter's "pik me up at school" arrives 5 seconds faster? Isn't it reception quality that everyone complains about?
I have Verizon 4g LTE and no it doesn't make cell phone reception any better. The 4g LTE terminology is meant for the data-side not the phone-side. So the data network traffic is faster than the "old" 3g technology: 3g 1.5-3.0 Mbps (200-400 Kb/sec) 4g 6+ Mbps (750+ Kb/sec) Here in SF area on Verizon LTE I get about 10-15 Mbps (1-2 Mb/sec). I believe the ATT LTE is pretty new and it will take them probably 1 or 2 years to completely roll it out.
