You'd be in the minority as a trader that doesn't drink, smoke, or take drugs. And don't confuse the Victorian contrivance of what the old guard considers acceptable to speak of publicly with reality of what happens in private. I find it suspicious (like an ulterior motive) when someone makes broad declarations about trading and what is done in personal life (and never mind they just admitted their own shortcoming in failing to maintain this balance).
The minority are the winners in trading! Obviousley by your avatar and handle you appear to be a hefty indulger. ROFLMAO... Everything we do affects trading performance. Even a momentary distraction (especially if scalping).....
Ad hominim attacks aside... The important part of my post is that neither appearances nor perpetuating fallen myths is reality. Your post is a textbook and timely example of each. And to take your post at face value, are you implying the minority of successful traders and minority of sober traders are one in the same? I'll state categorically they are not (and reserve evidence of such for the unlikely scenario you're willing to support your assertion with evidence).
Does a disciplined trader smoke weed? If a disciplined trader engages in an activity that adversely effects performance, they would no longer be a disciplined trader. If that statement is correct, then the answer has to be, disciplined traders smoke weed!
Perhaps reduces the pain of losses incurred while under the influence however perpetuates the same behaviour that helped create the loss in the first place. LOL
