Do you tend to wait for counter trend movements to enter a position?

Dude, have a homebrew, you're as good at this as anybody else.
You're at a difficult stage of the dealio.
You'll be happier once you find your niche.

We all just toss out ideas that might be of interest to you.
My idea is benchmark your setups. That requires rules based trading.
Virtually nobody is a rules based trader. If they are, this is their chance to announce theyselves right here baby.
You'll see how few out of ET traders cleve to written rules based on the simple tenets of Morse Code - https://www.elitetrader.com/et/thre...solid-trading-plan.340340/page-4#post-5031706

No problemo. There's more than one way to skin a kat and no two traders trade alike.
Persevere and keep your powder dry.

Zg, something you might think about trying.
Ask around to find out if some ET traders, regardless of their method, have found some simple tactics that they put to ongoing use. You might find that the answer is yes. Was it quick and easy for them to discover and implement their tactics? How long did it take? and whatnot. Keep turning those rocks over, you're method is out there.

Thanks man. Good advice...I hate to bug people but I'm sure there are some who genuinely like helping.

I am spending more and more time in old threads digging for obscure nuggets from the OGs. About to start on posts from martinghoul.

Does this example shed some light on your question? linked ... mes chart 60minute Aug 16 - 17 trend change process shows a couple of Engulfing at Resistance entries on mes moving average lines, and threee of em if you count the two Top candles of the move at 'resistance' provided by the upsloping line used for an RSID Divergence Failure Swing Pattern. ymmv, do your stats or else just watch em go buy, your choice.
Would you say that the engulfing setup/triggers short at moving averages were after waiting for counter trend? Did they get better entry prices than the TipTop Engulfing Short? Did they move swiftly away from entry with very little drama? You Likee?
