Wife and I have 175 shares of SPY since 2005, needless to say it has been an extremely wild ride! Couple of days ago we went to local bank to open a savings account to park some money my wife inherited, modest money, low 5 figures, after we found out how low rates were, we just simply decided to transfer the money to our broker and buy some more SPY at the end of 2015. Built in diversification and for now it's dividend payout is greater than what these banks are paying. At least I know the ETF can't go belly up, and that provides peace of mind.
