  4. I don't want to agree or disagree here but just point out that volume displayed below a time based chart has a different meaning than volume displayed below a tick based chart. Higher volume on a tick based chart indicates a higher trade size. And volume plotted on a volume based chart would be constant and have very little meaning. Perhaps this is what the poster meant?

    Yes, volume on different types of charts (e.g. time base charts versus tick charts) will have different meanings (analysis) when trying to correlate it with what the trader sees on the price chart.

    Simply, for example, someone using tick charts and is using volume analysis...that trader will be applying a different type of volume analysis versus when he/she changes the chart to a time base chart for volume analysis.

    I knew it was not chart 2 because it had a little pink dot in it and felt like it had been tampered with :)
