  1. I recently got a note about my FICO score. Said, "It could be higher if we could find any evidence of repaying installment loans." :)

Installment loans are personal or commercial loans that borrowers must repaywith regularly scheduled payments orinstallments. For each installment payment, the borrower repays a portion of the principal borrowed and also pays interest on the loan.

But does bank lend its own/clients money or gets money from fed?

If it would have been first case id assume 2008 crysis would not have occured.

As banksters must have known the house loans were not coming back if handing out too easy.

  3. Probably either/both.

(You thought maybe I don't know what an installment loan is?)

  5. That's funny. Never borrowed money so you didn't know what an installment loan is. That's rare... like me with not having a cell phone.

    Not native english speaker either.
    Installment sounds like installing software.

  7. Always keep a credit card! I learned the hard way - I thought I was being virtuous about a decade ago by getting rid of all debt and cutting up my credit cards. It f*cked me over, ended up wiping my credit history completely! And I had a great credit score prior to that.

The way I found out was getting an apartment and I was smug about "I have great credit" to the broker, only to find my records were wiped clean. Had to buy a card from CapitolOne to start building a new history in my 40s.

So kids, make sure you keep a credit card even if you don't use it (though I pay bills with it and get Amazon points, paying full balance each month, so it's a beneficial thing now)

Everything goes on credit card, which is then automatically paid off monthly. Zero effort on my part. Zero fees or interest. Accumulate >$2K worth of "points" per year, which I then convert into cash bc the actual rewards are stupid.

Banks often require you to use a debit card to access their ATM. Other than that never use a debit card unless you have no choice . Your protections are stronger with a credit card and their are other advantages to using a credit card as well. Just sign up for "auto-pay" on your credit card if you don't want to pay interest or late fees to your card company. Use a credit card issuer that answers the phone without menus when you call them! Don't pay an annual fee, and get a card without foreign transaction charges if you plan to travel internationally. Use your credit card for everything! Don't use debit cards. They are dangerous, despite what the bank tells you.

Guarantee your checking account with the bank's credit card.

There are debit cards, credit cards and debit visa/mastercards.

Don't get confused about their differences.
