I just included that "cash advance" feature to show that you CAN withdraw cash using a credit card too vs only be able to use debit card to withdraw cash.
What debit/credit card, I buy/sell thanks to a RFID chip implanted directly in my brain. I can order stuff on Amazon, Ebay or the local supermarket just by thinking about them! Isn't that neat or what? Just kidding, but that's what's coming up next guys... To answer the OP's question I use prepaid reloadable cards, no nasty surprises that way.
That is something that I do as well. However, they are not accepted at all merchants. Does yours have paypass. yup, but the question is - is it simply enough for the owner to say that the owner did not make that purchase ? Or would some proof need to be provided ? Also, how do you make sure you notify them ? Like - what if you do not check the notification for a few days for some reason ? Like a tech free hike or something ? Thank you
How can you prove that you did not purchase something? What proof do you provide? A non-receipt? That is why it is called a "dispute". The benefit of the doubt is now given to the cardholder. As for notifications? The onus is on the consumer to check their statements regularly. Some banks are cool in that they will recognize your purchase habits, and notify you of a "suspicious" purchase on your card, and call you up to ask about it. Happened to me once. I believe it was on the Discover card. They saw that I had purchases on a day in New England, and on same day some purchases in a retail store in PA? Something like that. They called me and asked me about it. I was like, "Yeah, I'm still here in New England, I didn't shop up here then run down to PA to buy something in a store in PA." They reversed the charges, and that was the last I heard of it.
I have Visa, Mastercard and American Express prepaid cards, they are all re-loadable (online and offline) and accepted around the world. You can put up to $10K on each card. They don't have the Paypass feature and I don't want it anyway, for security reasons.
I think they are accepted widely but there are some exceptions. I tried to put it on a lotto account once and it would not take it. Also on a popular retail grocer store website. Not sure why that is.
Gambling and porn related purchases (not to mention illegal products) are not accepted in most countries, no matter what card you use.
Lotteries in the US are a cash-only business. Can you imagine the legal hassles if a jackpot was won on a credit card? Because at point of purchase, the bank would own that lottery ticket, not the ticket holder, since you used the bank's money to purchase the winning ticket.
You can still buy lottery tickets with a debit card (or even a check) in the US, at the store's discretion.
