Cryer is a true koolaid drinker. Becraft is an opportunist. (He still files and pays taxes.) Both admitted that they won because they were good at lawyering. Cryer is broke. So now he is begging for money.
Quote: Tom Cryer admitted that he was unable to present actual evidence of the law - or lack of the law - but that he was allowed to present his "beliefs" in a way that was credible enough to the jurors to support/enable an acquittal. That's not what the tax nuts are saying. The tax nuts are all claiming that Cryer won because he was able to show the jury "the law."
The two counts he was being prosecuted on was WILLFUL failure to file a return. It is entirely possible that Cryer came off as such a loon that the jury figured there was no way in Hell he could willfully do anything and that he just forgot/didn't get around to it/dog ate it. The government dropped the tax evasion charge prior to the trial and I suppose they could revisit it and refile charges on that count. And that may have been part of their strategy. Why tie the evasion case to a case that had a higher likelyhood of failure. Until notice is received the government has no intent of refiling the evasion charge, don't celebrate too much.

Becraft knows the limits of the Cheek defense and he can present it and coach his clients better than anyone. But he does nothing to quash these illusions in the tax nut community that Cheek goes anywhere but nowhere in the overall scheme of things. He just sits back and defends these nutjobs who have ruined their lives financially and otherwise. On the other hand, Cryer is a fully immersed koolaid drinker. He ended the interview with "they can't show us the law" crap. He will be on the seminar trail taking the "donations" (cash only, of course).
Larry Becraft files returns and pays his taxes. It's really a great racket: Convince the TPs that they don't have to pay, watch them get indicted, the few with money hire you to represent them, you charge a big fee which you receive whether you win or not, if you lose no big deal these people were guilty anyway, but if you win then great advertising. All the while, you pay your own taxes so that Los Federales don't come after you.
Ontopic: I listened to the Brown radio show and Ed's sour grapes about Tommy's win were priceless. "It's not fair." Tommy's victory won't get much play on the Brown situation. They're already trashing it on the Quest blog: Quote: The Cryer and Beecraft IRS Performance. A Misdirecting Disinformation Fiasco in the Making. by Raymond Ronald Karczewski© I listened to the Ed and Elaine Brown Talk Radio show on RBN today July 12, hosted by Tim Wingate interviewing Guest Lawyers Tom Cryer and Lawyer Larry Beecraft. My intention was to congratulate Cryer and Beecraft for their win over the IRS "NO LAW" issue. I held on for 40 minutes of the 60 minute program and was never allowed on. The more I listened, the more my "disinformation" antenna began to pick up the actual direction taken by these two lawyers. Keep in mind they, Cryer and Beecraft, were two lawyers who outlawyered the government lawyers. The facts show that these are two Lawyers who are fictional corporate entities themselves, engaged in arguing a fictional principle in a fictional "show trial" setting with other lawyers, other fictional entities, none of whom, because of their fictional status, are Sovereign,. In short, it was a closed environment, a tightly controlled play of words composed of ALL fictional persons, who have sold their souls to the Government Corporation and its Courts.
From the press release quoted by John Bulten: Quote: Although Tom Cryer has won an amazing victory for the cause of truth and the restoration of the rule of law, the battle was not won without paying a steep price. His practice has been ruined and he has incurred expenses he still has to meet. He is having to start all over again and we can help. Please do what you can, no matter how much or how little, by going to www.liefreezone.com and clicking âSend Helpâ. Yeah, let's see now. Cryer stays out of jail on these charges. But he has huge legal bills now. His own legal practice is apparently shot. At the option of the DOJ, he can be prosecuted for any years not covered in the indictment for which the DOJ might contend he has willfully failed to timely file returns or to timely pay tax. And, at the expense of sounding tiresome to our tax protester friends, we remind them that the gross amount of compensation received or constructively received for personal services is includible in gross income under section 61 and is taxable. Mr. Cryer unfortunately still has the obligation to pay the FEDERAL INCOME TAXES for the years in question, plus penalties and interest (by one count, over $73,000 and growing).
