Do Trendlines work?

  1. Hi reiehaxm,

I'll tell you this, if you read it all very, very carefully, you'd gain more than you currently imagine you could. hth.

  2. What kind of "gain" are you talking about. Do you feel Jack has drastically improved your monetary gain, or is it a gain in self esteem, pride, health etc.

    Could you elaborate a little?

Jem, Walther and other trendline enthusiasts.

I have to confess! You got me convinced! I have made a decision. I'll dedicate one of my best researchers to thorough investigation of the trendlines efficiency. You guys know me fairly well, I will not bullshit. If there is anything there I'll publish it and admit it. I will post the results of our research. I would ask you to help me if I had some questions. I will PM to various people or post the questions on this thread.
I will be as objective as I possibly could be.

May be I was wrong and I did overlook something very useful. Let the truth be found!

  4. Yes to all you mentioned (health could be considered... yes). I would be happy to clarify, but consider how much effort he's put into making us work for it. Why do you think that is...

    Question:
Please draw trendlines the way you see them on the chart attached. No explanations needed at this time.

  6. Remember:

The more touches on the T/L the better

T/L's can be support/resistance so play them how they fit your style: profit taking, breakout, S/R reversals, etc.

  7. i'll take an fstab at it.

greed light, red light. i mean line.. i mean green! my apologies for the crude quality. used mspaint.

noone will draw them exactly like i did but i don't see anything original here. its just connecting tops and bottoms, finding patterns, support and resistance... support/resistance either holds or breaks and you place the trade accordingly. i bet others will draw many of the lines in similar places, maybe not so cluttered though.

remember after the election? wow that lower bound trendline was the green go light all the way until december when it whipsaw'ed ya near the top. looked perrty on the 60min, etc, but u can see it here on the daily fairly well.

Thank you very much! Do you consider entry when the bar is formed completely or in the middle of the bar?

Where are your exits? Stop orders?
    Thanks again.
    Cheers.

  9. Hmm...

At this point, I visibly SEE 3 variables but my subdivisions may be a tad too explicit. The second variable I wrote a program to furthur subdivide that which is Long and that which is Short so that if necessary, I can directly monitor it with its respective critical DOM pair values. Reason being is that once either exceeds the critical values of either side of the pair, I am aware of price immediately entering into a new Pair state.

First deriv boundaries, f'(t) = 0. You mention fortunately which presumably simplifies. Are the derivs on all variables? Would you be willing to elaborate or is this just a comment and/or detail to be aware of?

Clueless here but absolutely open to any suggestions or techniques that you may be willing to color in.

As far as ET. I do find it to be unfortunate, but nonetheless I press on since the few positive PM's I get are enough to push me furthur and get beyond the crapload of backlash stating that I'm FOS. This is OK tho. My cubicle buddy knows that things are well indeed. I just know that there is a tremendous amount of room for improvement in my discretion.

Please feel free to comment. I can also color in more details on my orientation should this be needed for better perspective.

As an additional side Q, is the magnitude of the respective derivative important or just the sign and null cases (ie. upcoming directional change)?
