Do Trendlines work?

Discussion in 'Technical Analysis' started by duard, Apr 3, 2005.

  1. The person I quoted wanted to see profitable trades called in the live paltalk room by Grob109. He reported that he saw unprofitable trades. What is unclear about that ?

I know you want to warn us but the sky is not really falling.

  3. I'm not warning anyone about anything. I asked for a demonstration. I found a report of a previous demonstration in a different thread. I posted here a quote from an observer of that demonstration. The topic of this thread is " Do Trendlines Work ?". Grob109 advocates that they work. If they work for Grob109 one would assume he could demonstrate it in a setting set up for that purpose. He did not according to one eyewitness report. Therefore, I am stating that his performance refutes his assertion that trendlines work for him.

On this thread I'm thinking Foxy Woxy...........................

  5. MAESTRO

    MAESTRO

MYTH - A traditional sacred story, usually featuring gods and heroes, which purports to explain a natural phenomenon or cultural practice.

TRENDLINES - A traditional trading myth, usually featuring old-school chartists, who purport to explain a natural phenomenon of markets. :) :D

  6. It's too bad you weren't around for the sessions because you repeatedly express your need. A person kept a site with all the recorded sessions on it. Could still be around.

  7. Go for it..the common ratio is 4 negative for 1 positive. From your orientation four out of five people do not agree nor find any efficacy in rockets(beginners), iceberging (intermediate) nor SCT (expert) trading. You can believe a lot of these people have really developed their views from great efforts to be what they are in a wide spectrum. The average long term profit of ET'ers who trade ES is 1 point/day/contract. Compound that using a pragmatic real market set of rules for running an individual retail account. If you get to that standard, then you will be in the mix of the 4 of the 4 out of 5.

You missed the comment made recently on # of trades and points per trade in a posted print.

In equities, there is a public 6 month lisiting of trades done by a person who liked the equities approach. The summary shows an average hold of 6.6 days and an average profit ber trade of 11.1%. We met for four hours after that, the only time we met; he reported a signifcant increase and was no longer employed a short while after our meeting.

There is some public info equity info on large trades and other public info on intraday trades where I posted publically over 30 times on that day (After following the stock for one day at the request of a large share holder).

It is my believe that you are in a very solid position and orientation. Best for you to be where you are. It is not a good idea for a person to step out of his condition and situation and adventure into places that are unfounded or even unconventional.

  8. I would be around for a current session. I will make a contribution to a charity of Grob109's choice for his demonstration. I dont need to see a demonstration any more than Grob109 needs to make one. I would find it interesting and thats why I have requested it. People pay to see experts in their field. Maybe Grob109 is the Tiger Woods of trading. But Tiger does more than mouth the words or write about golf. He does it live and for all to see. If Grob is a great trader I would like to observe his trading for one day. My last word about it.

  9. If it's useful to you, use it. If not, don't. What need is there for 'splaining?

    What's an old-school chartist?

  10. icarus...

I have recently gone thru many of your posts and beginning to better understand how aware you are in your trading. I am inspired by your discretionary awareness. It is something I am currently striving for. Getting back to the top of trendlines, I was curious as to how you regard the DOM, spike, and 2 pair with respect to trendlines. As an awareness, I kind of screwed up since I worked from the DOM back to 2 pair & Spikes all the way back out to higher and higher order fractals since all fractals encapsulate the DOM/2 pair & spikes. I got a little excel program that real time gnerates the 2 pair chart. I guess it's neat but certainly too much of a rapid fire thing which I throw my automated trader into... Can you explain a little bit of your awareness to the 2 pair and spike. My monitoring is slightly different and perhaps that may cause an issue. Nonetheless, I would be very interested in what you or anyone else has to say about it in any context (isolated, channels, R2L/L2R, etc)... I attached my 2 pair & spike chart which plays out in real time. Red line is Bid, green is Ask. It is a real-time tick compression of the entire day (roughly compresses an the entire day of 42k ticks to about 1200 comprehensive points; same exact amount of information)...
