Why not just look through this journal section, on each thread, read through the journals, and decide based upon what you read here, on what to do? Best advice you could get, honestly.

Oh I don't know, it seems to nudge me to think slightly more as the whole world will know what a moron I am when I do wrong. I used to share your opinion before trying it.

The downside is, people may think me to be a moron without even bother saying so. If posting in concrete discussion threads that is far more likely.

But Snusk, nobody in the whole world (here) knows who you are, so what is the big deal?

I am quite sure I have made it plain that I am both a very serious person, trying to learn trading, have a serious journal to prove it, and an utter goofball at times, making jokes, going on tangents, trying to bring levity, trying to understand wtf is going on...I get yelled at, get ignored/blocked by folks who disagree with me, and get followed by folks who like what I type.

But I certainly have no fear that "they know me in the world, and will know how bad my trading might be". It's just an internet BBS.

I just don't find navel gazing useful. Difference in philosophy. I'd rather come to the table with a bunch of trades I made, and some of my own ideas and criticism, rather than allow a journal that is public to inevitably turn into a battle for attention with one of the many trolls.

That, right there...Why would one "allow" a journal to turn into a battle for attention?

A journal you make here can be whatever you wish. B1S2 allows his journal to be what it is, which is the most active journal on this site. My journal is quiet, some other folks have journals that are even more quiet. And there are some in the more-middle-ish area, like Snusk.

It is what you make it.

  6. Overnight did you find most of the advice you received publicly well intentioned? Or ill intentioned?

All well-intentioned. Never in my journal did someone intimate ill-will to me for the purpose of wanting me to fail. There might have been some jesting here and there, but it was not with malice at heart. There has been constructive criticism, there have been some jabs, but ill-intent? No way.

Just look in the journal section for it. It is titled "...And they have a plan"

    eventually it will.
because you are going to get criticized and that is the best thing.

also most of the journals i have seen are just a record of trades -that you can get from a statement.
you have to state the reasons for the trade and record them for your own record.

    then it is useful.
if you make it public it does help to keep you honest.

Indeed. What other kind of journal is there, aside from a lookback to your past trades with comments on them?

if the comments are reasons and complete rational for the trade then that is different from just a statement
