Do full-time forex traders exist or is it just make believe?

MOST of what's been documented here since 2002 has been abysmal.
Yet you recently closed a journal because you couldn't take the heat of those calling out your BS. And you said you were leaving because a mod called out your BS on your latest journal
Selling funds? Probably but then you are a salesman now aren't you....
Remind me again how many times YOU have been banned from ET. Half a dozen times at least.

  2. You are right. Not only is everything relative, To be 100% transparent-- I should have added that I have also lost a fortune in the markets--- but as of yesterday, I remain positive over my trading life time.

    good catch,

  3. Surf, have you lost more than you've gained?

  4. and that was what turned it around for me

I watched an ES trader who was unbeleivably successful for the longest time

he put it on with a target and no stop, and always hit his target

then he blew up really bad

I thought, "Why can't I do that, but just the opposite?"

    a stop, but no target?

it certainly hasn't been a straight road up

complacency sets in and you just become "buy and hold"

that is why discussions on ET about exits are the most interesting to me

wouldn't it be nice if you could just put it on, and if you didn't get stopped out forget about it?

maybe in stocks, but that forex turns on a dime (usually my dime) and they don't give you much time to book a profit

I've seen enough profits turn into losers, that I don't worry that much about losers (because they will probably turn into winners) but that is a very bad way to live a life or trade. So everytime I protect myself, I give up just that much more of my profit potential.

After a while, you will just break even (minus the spread and the commissions.)

That's why they call it "trading."

    can it be done?

    does anybody do it fulltime?

    just remember

there is a big difference between quitting, and quitting while you are ahead

somewhere out there is a guy who did quite well for himself buying and selling real estate, and just happened to quit while he was ahead (probably when his wife divorced him and confiscated half of his wad.)

  5. Overall I am positive but my large wins have come from long term speculation and not day trading. surf

I am sorry about that confusion, Surf.

I didn't catch the "tweet crash", just demonstrated hypothetical opportunity to show market can be viewed from different perspectives.

Neither Wrbtrader is my "buddy". I don't know him personally, just read many of his posts and checked his site a couple times. Well, his track record is all there (not from forex, but from TF/CL trading mostly) and my thinking is it's all legit. You can obviously check yourself and make your own conclusions.

Also I am not a vendor, nobody can ever say I charged a penny for chat rooms mentioned or like that or anything else, besides my professional consultations as a shrink and OPM performance fees (which I will never receive if I don't trade profitably after all).

So if you feel suspicious about me, I'm always happy to answer all questions openly, especially considering that you know my real name and I am not some virtual persona for you. :)

  7. I think I'd make a killing shorting an ET ETF.

  8. the real question every trader or investor should ask is

over time, have you beat a portfilio 50% in bonds and 50% in the S&P?

depending on how far back you go, I'm pretty sure I haven't

but then again, all this trading has taken it's toll on my life expectency

so I don't need as much to live out my life as the average conservative investor

  9. LOL! There are some excellent proven traders still here, but most of them are gone.

  10. It is possible, folks have certainly done it but its akin to winning the lottery and not skill based. Unless its exploiting some aberration at the dealer--- that I have seen done and did it myself when mini accounts use to lag. surf
