very true--- and it looks like the fantasy of fulltime at home retail FX TA traders ( with no other income source and starting from scratch) is being dismantled claimant by claimant, surf
Or the facts: I signed up to ET for the FTT topic, now and again I indulge in other topics on the forum but for the most part trading forums are a no no, the population of those like you who call a straight loss " catching the big move but in the wrong direction" is just to high, I do not know xspurt yet find him a lot more respectable than you. If it goes 5 pips against me before the trade is in B/E territory I bail yes, how far I like the market to move beyond B/E before I enter the stop depends on the current behaviour.
We all have different styles. Yeah, my trading has sucked big time lately, I am more of a longer term speculator who at times uses short term tools. I admit my losses, unlike many others here. FTT topic? Financial Transaction Tax? I know a little about that subject Im sorry you find an obvious bogus mentor type more respectable, but that's cool-- everyone is entitled to their opinon--- good luck!!. Peace, surf
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Lewis_(British_businessman) "After selling the family business in the late 1970s, Lewis moved into currency trading in the 1980s and 1990s, resulting in his move to the Bahamas where he is now a tax exile. In September 1992, Lewis teamed up with George Soros to bet on the pound crashing out of the European Exchange Rate Mechanism. The event, which was dubbed Black Wednesday, made Lewis very wealthy, and some say he made more than Soros. Lewis is still an active FX trader." Yes, they exist, but I don't need to say how difficult it is. Best way to find out is to try it.
cool story, thanks for sharing! He started from vast wealth. That's not what I am talking about----and has Soros level access to info--- sure, lots of those types exist. I am talking aboput at home retail FX traders --- not soros types. Peace, surf
IIRC he made something like $20MM from the sale of the family catering business before going into FX spec.
Yeah, i know he didn't start with a Oanda micro account. regardless, his success in the FX market is admirable. Wonder how he first attracted Soros' attention. Both Jim Rogers and Vniederhofer traded for Quantum--
Yeah to Quantum. I once ran a book for a fund that hired a risk-manager away from Soros. The risk mgr asked me what my limit on index gamma would be, so I told him "20,000" as a joke. He was ok with that.
marketsurfer, I mentioned a few people in my earlier posts, but you have yet to comment? TA is bullshit, people don't make money.. Okay. What are you trying to prove, or whats the point in all of this anyway?? Are you trying to help people? deter people from trying?, letting everyone not to bother wasting their time?? There are people out there that do it, im sure of it. Just because they dont sit on forums such as these, and waste time posting a bunch of nonsense to show you their account statements which seems like you are in every thread, and every post on this forum BTW... You have far too much time on your hands spreading negativity. All the best
