I will say no, for every big ego a new comer has there is a always a detractor to match, as the consequence either that person can't take it and leave (we sure miss him :p ) or he decide to behave and stay.

  5. Very interesting and insightful responses:

Ego tied to consistency and amount of trading gains. (cashmoney)

Internet allowing Clark Kents to become Supermen. (Drew07)

Internet forums as invalid measures of individuals' traits. (HoundDogOne)

A balancing effect among newcomers/veterans (nkhoi)

  7. It better not be. Remember, pride comes before a fall. I believe in the book Reminisces of a Stock Operator, "Livermore" admits that some of his biggest losses came after some of his biggest gains.

Good point....can anyone name some successful people that aren't also known for having big egos? Donald Trump is infamous for having a huge ego (although I'm sure many will argue that he's not all that successful). Bill Gates seems like a sort of modest guy but he has so much freaking money I guess he doesn't need an external ego to convince people that he's made it. I guess success and ego go hand in hand in most cases....I don't picture people with low-self esteem as motivated enough to get out and prove themselves to anyone.

  10. He is too busy freaking out that the Windows empire may have lost a little of its monopoly.

Gates is very insecure/paranoid and a HUGE ego-maniac. You don't keep technology in the stone age otherwise. It's not the money to him, it never was. It's control and RULING THE WORLD.

I'm not even joking, you should listen to some of his interviews.
