Do Conservatives Owe Obama A Debt of Gratitude For Ending The Clinton Nightmare?

  1. This is some race. I have counted Hillary out twice and Obama once.

There is one fundamental rule in modern politics: Do not underestimate the Clintons. They know how to close the deal. Obama had a chance to put the stake through Hillary and he flinched.

On the other hand, McCain may have a much easier time beating Hillary (with over 50% unfavorable rating) than Obama. So, who knows what's best for the Republicans, and, therefore, the country? :)

Let the Dems tear each other down through a bitter primary struggle, governed by dirty cutthroat political tactics and nefarious back-room machinations, perhaps culminating to an explosive convention in September. That's sometimes one of the byproducts of our democratic governance system, right?

McCain will be waiting here, safe and sound, selling a cartload of traditional, if not downright conservative, positions (low taxes, strong defense, free-market-driven growth and prosperity, individual responsibility, education, family, faith, etc) to the American public, waiting to devour the (by then exhausted and badly wounded) Dem survivor. Then, we'll have another 8 great years... Oh well :) :)
