235x4 isn't thaaaat bad. More than most 38 year olds can do. I dont understand the set of curls on a workout obviously geared towards push muscle groups though. Nice workout either way...but post up the diet. If you don't want to be a fat boy...diet is king. Lifting is fun and makes you feel great...eating clean under calorie restriction is dreadful and makes you feel like butt...There is the real accountability. edit: I see you are following IF. some people see decent results with it but I am convinced that is another fad after years of experimenting...same as the high fat trend. The diet that works best today for being both lean AND muscular is the exact same as the diet that has worked for decades. I do think longer periods of fasting are beneficial for autophagy and a healthy thing to do every once in a while.
diet is king, for sure. if you want an idea on macros you can search "31minutes AMA" and see his spreadsheet given by Berkhan - that's what I'm using and used previously. I will say I know what I'm doing here and won't be turning this into an Instagram feed full of food pics... it's just for accountability lol. as for the 235, well, a year-ish ago I hit 325-4, so... haha. it's fine. it will return in time. reverse pyramid training in a cut is far and above the most superior method I've used.
There does not seem to be any conclusive evidence that yoga produces any specific health benefits other than stretching muscles, neither physical or psychological. Of course there are a million different opinions. Yoga can improve flexibility and strength by exercising the muscles. Research has shown that one form of yoga does not produce any more benefits than other forms of yoga leading to the conclusion that specific postures are not more beneficial than others. Zumba or Taichi appear to have very similar effects on muscles as yoga. Which leads to the potential conclusion that it's not yoga specifically that has more benefits over other low impact exercises but it's the simple exercising and stretching of muscles regardless of what you call it...
Yea you'll do fine. Happy training. Not to be an argumentative ass but just simply for some discussion as fitness is a life long passion of mine and it is fun to see something posted here...I would argue that a crossfit type program would produce superior results to your reverse pyramid method. more traditional training style is fine for general strength (and hypertrophy if taking muscles to failure)...but for overall athletic conditioning ->strength, endurance, muscularity, mobility etc...there are better programs IMO. Hell even working in a legit sprinting session once or twice a week can be extremely helpful as I think intensity is the primary driver of results...and those type of workouts force intensity. They are just incredibly hard lol.
kundalini is extremely interesting in terms of unusual results. Fun little rabbit hole to go down some time. typical yoga is essentially isometric bodyweight exercise...not just simply static stretching.
nothing wrong with healthy discourse, I welcome it here. I agree about sprinting and I would do it ... and I will... pending I get whatever the F is wrong with my knees sorted. box jumps years ago were, most assuredly, brilliant on my part after not having done them for years. I landed off a 36" and it was all over. I walked out unassisted but they've never been the same. it's on my list of stuff to sort out early next year. I miss being that mobile more than you could ever understand lol. I can't squat as a result thereof but leg pressing seems to not fuck them up. deads will be a crapshoot. I will do all I can, I've put off taking care of myself because of this and a couple other lingering issues - and enough is enough. I can still do other things and I will until I'm fixed. like I said - getting my shit back on track.
i feel like we are in a similar boat in terms of mobility. I cannot squat or do conventional DL either and it kills me. I use to squat over 500 to depth but my hips and lower back simply will not allow it anymore. So what i have done is accepted my condition (the hardest part lol), and replaced conventional DL with either sumo style OR even better...block pulls (usually clean grip sometimes snatch grip). Starting at a high position takes a ton of strain off your joints but gives decent results...traps will blow up doing these. As far as back squats i just replace with goblet squat and split variations like Bulgarian. on thins like this and walking lunges, just do without any load and to failure and hypertrophy is sure to come.
Guys, might wanna look at. https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/elbow-and-bicep-tendonitis.370166/ I don't expect anything, but, will try out.
I've gone through a couple of kits of BPC, it absolutely made some sort of difference - just didn't do the job completely. I am ordering kits of TB-500 tomorrow and will use both after whatever surgery I need takes place. great info.
