I'm very surprised that Paramount are still carrying several of the extreme reich-wing garbage channels on their Pluto TV platform.
Because its probably extremely poor training and discipline. All you need to do is educate yourself on how Russians behaved in Chechnya. If you think Russian troops are out there in less-than-ideal circumstances with crappy equipment, bad food and cold just to "blow shit up", then you're not thinking correctly.
I'd be interested in your thoughts of why they are there other than to infiltrate the country and take it over. I thought the current idea was to start killing as many civilians as possible until Ukraine gives in to Putin's demands. Putin has been talking for at least 12 years, but actually it must be much longer, about the, essential to him, unification of Russia and what he sees as "The Ukraine Region" of Russia. What else can this be about other than that. No matter what settlement is eventually arrived at, he won't stop until either he's been replaced or he's dead. There will be continuous subterfuge and infiltration if direct invasion fails. P.S. - I know what they did to Grozny and Allepo.
When you're asking "why they are there", are you looking for military goals or why the soldiers themselves are there? Because that's a very different question, and I was speaking to the latter. And where did you learn what happened in Grozny? Wait, wait...let me guess. Western press?
Why the soldiers are there. You will have more insight into that than I. The question itself suggests there is more than meets the eye here. What are your views on that? Of course it's the Western Press! Why would anyone, including Russians, believe the Russian Press? I belief the pictures of Grozny flattened into rubble are not fake. But in all war reporting we only see what we are shown. If the major part on the city is still untouched and pristine, please let me know.
The soldiers are in the Ukraine because the Russian army conscripts them. A Russian soldier's life is horrible and abusive. Maybe they like it that way, but I suspect its more a matter of poor discipline and funding than anything else. They are there because that's where they were sent and they do what they are told. If they don't, they know what awaits them in prison. If you truly want to understand just a sliver of what the Russians did in Chechnya, go read "A Small Corner of Hell: Dispatches from Chechnya" by Anna Politkovskaya (who was later murdered by the Kremlin for her anti-government writings). IF you can make it through that book without vomiting from the Russian Spetsnaz atrocities, let me know and I'll give you another.
Thanks. I knew it was mostly conscripts being sent, and word coming back was that morale was low among them. But you have added a new dimension to my understanding of why, in addition to the obvious moral questions raised by the invasion, that morale might be especially low among Russian army conscripts.
Verizon Fios dropped OANN. Now they are not available on any major cable, fiber or satellite provider's TV offering. MAGA Cable Channel OAN Could Become Impossible to Find on TV One America News may very well lose its largest remaining cable carrier, delivering what might be a near-death knell for its national availability. https://www.thedailybeast.com/maga-cable-channel-oan-could-become-impossible-to-find-on-tv
