Did Jordan Speith learn his lesson?

  1. You missed the entire point...QB's on winning teams are not going to start gunning downfield plays with massive exposure to hits UNLESS they are trailing in the 2nd half...Yes, the top QB's on winning teams will still pass alot, but short routes, quick timing routes that don't expose their QB to unnecessary punishment.

Stats are one part of the game, exactly right...Which is why stats produced by a QB on a losing team or a Non-playoff team are highly suspect.

I don't give two shits about Tony Romo, my entire point was to debunk this whole "stats" debate since it is a largely frivolous argument in favor of overpaying QB's...

  2. So let's look over the past few seasons of Romo's career...Take a look at the record and the Passing Yards stats...then take a look at the Int's/TD's...The really bad Cowboys teams had a horrendous defense and Romo was gunning for big yards, high risk plays to try and get that team back in the game...

Technically speaking everyone is a HOF candidate. If Romo continues on his current trajectory, he aint getting a sniff of HOF, nor does he deserve it. I can name at least 10 QBs who played in the Romo era that deserve it more than him.

  4. Comparing this era's passing numbers to past era's is analogous to comparing HR totals in the late 90's to any time prior...i.e. even mediocre QB's are putting up numbers that look remarkable historically but simply reflect a pass happy league that no longer allows defenses to "punish" certain routes and/or destroy a QB that sits in the pocket for 40-50 attempts per game.

And yet his Passer Rating is 3rd all time.
Guy is a VERY efficient passer.
    Choker? Yes.
But he takes care of the ball and he's got a big heart and plays through pain.
If he had the Steelers D he would win all those games Big Ben did.

If only Jerry Jones and his mediocre coach hadn't fielded such a mediocre team around Romo they would have done more.

Bottom line - Romo is a good QB and a fringe top tier guy in today's NFL.
If he were to win one SB he would be a HOF candidate based on his stats.

Again this is not a coherent argument since I believe the top 2 sacked QBs last year (off the top of my head) were Russell Wilson and Alex Smith. Both for different reasons, but neither of which are 'they were waiting in the pocket for deep plays because they were losing'.

    I don't care about Romo.
But I do think OPs retarded assumption that Spieth is 'failing' because he is hanging out with Romo is just idiocy.

Well, well, well. It appears Speith has learned his lesson. He is not hanging around a choke artist like Tony Romo right before Augusta. He is hanging around a winner.

If you want to be a winner, you hang around winners. If you want to be a loser, hang around with Tony Romo.

Another major, another poor performance by Speith. This Tony Romo curse is really something and appears to have lasting effects.
