Did John McCain Really Say He Thought Rich Meant "5 Million" And Up Per Year?

  1. I just saw a commercial, and when I asked someone about it, they said they thought that, yes, McCain had made that statement during the debate at that Saddleback Megachurch gathering.

    Did he really say this?

If so, he now has a rebuttable presumption of being dumber than dog shit.

Even if one believed this to be true, to actually say it boggled the mind (unless you're trying to lose a national election).

  2. He made a joke.

  3. It was part of a long and thoughtful answer to kind of a stupid question.

What difference does it make at what level someone is "rich?" It all depends anyway. In a working class neighborhood, someone who wins $1 mill in the lottery is "rich." Same person in Greenwich is considered riff raff.

  4. I enjoy his sense of humor when it's not incredibly dangerous. (Bomb Iran jokes, for example. Angry people respond to those and it can cost US lives.)
