Does anyone think his huge salary could be hush money for misdeeds within the exchange? Just a thought.
so following these parameters then the NYSE is responsible for going to one cent increments, i.e. decimals....not the SEC....this is news to me.
that's what i have been saying.....why else would the regulated pay the regulator so much $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$....
I guess you have been hiding in a cave somewhere and forgot that there was a company called ENRON that decided to manipulate the power grid in CALIFORNIA and do so without any intervention from FERC ( Federal Energy Regulatory Commission ). I guess you would also be suprised to learn that even though the power shortage back East occurred quite some time ago, the energy companies and refiners are still RIPPING CALIFORNIA CONSUMERS OFF TO THE TUNE OF $2.11 per GALLON FOR REGULAR GASOLINE AT THE PUMP. You fail to realize that the Bush Administration does not give a rats ass about the State of California, and as a result the nation's 5 TH LARGEST WORLD ECONOMY HAS TO FEND FOR ITSELF. As for Phil Angelides holding the position of State Treasurer, you obviously have no brains when it comes to governmental positions. Given your ridiculous logic, I GUESS WE CAN BLAME THE FEDERAL BUDGET DEFICIT ON TREASURY SECRETARY JOHN SNOW.
is everyone on drugs today???? read what i said.....the sec forced decimalization on the markets for greater clarity...geesh...but you also know they set a lot of other rules as well that the sec can give a rats as sabout .
I think California state treasurer and the board of that pension fund are absolutely doing the right thing. Glad to see people like Elliot Spitzer and Phil Angelides exist in this country IMO...
cannot afford to "piss-off" CALPERS because they will just send their stock-trading elsewhere. CALPERS can exert a tremendous amount of pressure due to the volume they trade. The NYSE is gonna have to give Grasso the boot. Back in 1987, after the Crash, Wells Fargo Nikko ( Now Barclays ) the largest index-fund in the world, decided to trade 85% of their portfolio off of the NYSE because they were tired of getting ripped off and dealing with large transaction fees and slippage. I believe that the Board of Directors of the NYSE will ask Grasso to step down, and do so very shortly. This is a Public Relations NIGHTMARE for the NYSE, just when a little bit of confidence was coming back into the marketplace. There was no TRANSPARENCY regarding Grasso's pay package whatsoever. The fact that we are now just learning about it, and learning about an EXTRA $48 million ( which he is now rescinding ) is confirmation that there were "conflicts of interest" present.
first of all, I was joking around, however don't you think the treasurer of calif should have better things to do then to worry about what grasso makes???? and lastly, calif has some serious problems that are not just the result of enron..come on....and why is this ONCE AGAIN bush's fault???? amazing.....they had these problems with energy before he even got it in office.
TM...tell you what just put me on ignore..i was just asking a question...i didn't see your decimalization post........but i can do without your smart ass comments...
My bad.....i was going back and forth with another who was repeating everything i said and taking everything out of context..i thought you were doing the same...i apologize for misconstruing.
