Diary of an LSE stock trader

Discussion in 'Journals' started by Mo06, Dec 12, 2012.

  1. Your winners are consistently small compared to your few losers. It should be the other way around. You should cut your losers earlier and let your winners run more. I too trade off simple support and resistance, always use the tape to confirm your entry. Good luck.

Summary Week Ended Friday 14th June 2013

    12 stock trades:

    2 BARC + 13.37 BPS

    10 BLT + 86.29 BPS

    Stocks net + 99.66 BPS

    All long, intraday trades.

I traded 3 days this week.

    Thoughts

We saw quite a sell off in the FTSE & Dax. Banks weak as were miners. Markets recovered some of their losses at the end of the week.

Well short of my 500 bps weekly target, but a profit is a profit I guess.

    Stay disciplined.

    Stay focussed.

    Thoughts

Another negative week on stock markets. FTSE closed below the 200 DMA for the first time since November 2012.

Well short of my 500 bps weekly target, but a profit is a profit I guess.

    5 BLT + 47.36 BPS

    Stocks net + 74.41 BPS

    Thoughts

A quiet week's trading, I was out all day on Tuesday and Wednesday and so missed a big early sell off and reaction rally.

    Miners sold off on Friday.

    Stay disciplined.

Summery Week Ended Friday 12th July 2013

    8 stock trades:

    8 BLT + 155.55 BPS

    Stocks net + 155.55 BPS

All intraday, long and short trades.

    Thoughts

Another shortened week this week. Markets headed higher but the FTSE is still well below the highs it reached in May.

Still a modest profit for the week.

    Stay disciplined.

    Stocks net + 30.25 BPS

    All intraday trades.

    Thoughts

Another shortened week for me. I struggled to find trades this week.

There was also the distraction of some great mountain stages on the Tour De France.

Summary Week Ended Friday 26th July 2013

    12 stock trades:

    9 BLT + 89.77 BPS

    3 GLEN - 162.78 BPS

    Stocks net - 73.00 BPS

Long and short trades, intraday and overnight.

    No Index trades.

I traded 5 days this week.

    Thoughts

A difficult week, although I actually made a small overall £ profit, since my trades in GLEN were very small size compared to BLT, as this is the first time I have traded GLEN (GLEN recently merged with Xstrata which I used to trade quite regularly). My exits on GLEN were very poor.

Quite a volatile week all in all, FTSE was down 75 from last Friday.

    Stay disciplined.

    Stay focussed.
