If spyware keeps coming back try shutting off system restore and then run a sweep. I use spysweeper, Microsoft's beta sweeper, and another obscure one I can't recall the name of right now.
two other things to try: 1. first try to rename the file. make sure you change the file extension so it will not execute: for example change dialer.exe to spamvirusdialstuff.crap 2. since it sounds like it wants to dial somewhere and add calls to your phone bill, I would remove any phone line connection (old style fax/modem) until the problem is resolved. after rebooting, see if the file reappeared. if yes, then another program is placing a fresh copy on each restart. Have you installed Microsoft Anti Spyware? If you have it may be starting up with t, he computer, so use the program and go to advanced tools, then system explorer, then click on startup programs. If you find anything sucpicious, search the name in google and you may find its status. Also go to trendmicro.com and run the online scan for viruses and spyware it does a good job.
dialer.exe is probably the main deterrent to stay away from porn sites. That little bugger is near impossible to get rid of
If you are unable to get this off, and you are not a computer whiz, I suggest you post your problem at a site like www.techguy.org http://forums.techguy.org/ Not sure if the second link will get you straight to the forums page, since I am registered and my log-in is automatic. Register through the first link if the second one doesn't work for you They will ask you to run Hijack This and post the log, and then they will take you through various steps until it is gone. I had to do this with something called msbb.exe, and in the end I was able to kill it by shutting it down in Task Manager and then following the removal instructions they gave me. I am not a savvy computer guy, although problems like this are forcing me to get better. I have solved a lot of problems by posting at Techguy, but they will expect you to have done everything you possibly could before posting, which it sounds like you have done. Outline everything you have done and you will get a quick response there. Reply promptly when someone offers advice and you will solve this problem, although it will take a day or two.
