Detroit has the some of the highest tax rates, highest paid city employees, and highest spending per resident of all the major cities in the U.S. In what way is this due to the government being too small?
Yet even with a department so bloated that it has a horseshoer and no horses, the local union president said it is ânot possibleâ to eliminate positions.
Apparently the makers of walking dead were going to film it in detroit but they feared detroit was way to big a shithole to make the zombie apocolypse seem realistic.
As a side note... The Walking Dead is filmed in Georgia. They host 'Walking Dead' (Living Dead / Zombie Walk) festivals each year in several cities in the region (Raleigh, etc.) One of the things you can do at these festivals is audition for a part as a zombie. If you are selected then you normally spend a couple weeks on the set for filming. One of my daughter's friends was selected and you can see them in an episode. They said all the actors and production crew were super great to meet and work with. Old press - http://www.wral.com/walking-dead-return-to-downtown-raleigh/11688223/
Come on, Maverick, don't be silly... In general, I thought failures and bankruptcies are a necessary and even welcome part of capitalism? Isn't this a good thing? Creative destruction and all that...
How much of this is because of outsourcing to other countries? That would lay some blame on the politicians who took the money from the corps that couldn't resist the cheap labor overseas, wouldn't it? At least to some extent, in my opinion.
