*** I am going to post the actual fill timestamp going forward. I will announce at the outset whether the trade is taken or not. The size listed may not be the size traded (possibly larger IRL). ***
The vol rose 50bp and the thetas were $100ish. The theta alone would have accounted for 10-share gains alone (absent gamma) had I been able to hold it another day. How did your pitchfork trades go? It's meant as a modeling tool (tool). I trade those with wings.
why are you doing this?? you are making us look so small..at least vast majority of us) btw. would that be possible to win some money ,well,if not from you, than perhaps from your son by using the famous 'son,if you can draw a straight line'approach?? sorry, couldn't resist..
The whole idea is stupid (competition), but if I commit to doing it then I should commit to posting the time-stamps. My account number is in privacy mode anyway. No harm. Straight-line approach? He's probably smarter than me, certainly better-lookin'.
ha ha guys! sooner or later this guy and his son,and his son's friends /no way he's going to keep his mouth shut/ and his niece and god only knows who else will WIN ALL OUR HARD EARNED MONEYS!! ) high time we did somethin about it!..any suggestions??) ha ha!
Here's my CV for anyone who wants it. It's never really been discussed outside of the book. I had an early undergrad ride to UC. I did some grad school at Northwestern. I did a biochemistry "fellowship" at UT-Austin. My undergrad is in bio. I think that I know a lot about cell-met. I have what is the = of a B.Sc in phys. I spent some time at the CIS school. I've had two sell-side gigs ending in the early 90s. Legit sell-side, no deposit prop. I am around 50yo. I worked in govt for 30 months and was injured on the job. I left for med school at Pritzker. I had a recommendation from Dr Folkers which explains my interest and study surrounding ubiquinone. I dropped out in my third year. I began trading 30Y options after leaving grad school. I was clearing RJO and trading upstairs at 555 W Jackson. In 1997-98 I made >$900K in 30Y options. One expiration was the bulk of the gains. I was pinned to the strike on LTD on embedded two-handle wide flies. I took what was left of the gains and began trading the COMS/PALM spinoff in 2000. There was a crossed-market arb in many single names but COMS was the most notorious. There was tremendous interest in COMS at the time and there was no exchange-link between OpEx and OPRA. Crossed quotes abounded. RAES allowed retail accounts to gain priority on 20-lots. You could buy ATM vol in COMS at P-Coast at 2.75 offer and sell it at PHLX at 3.00 bid. The first two weeks was over a mil all from flipping 20-lots. The OCC got wise and went forensic and located the guy from ARCA as well as myself. TimberHill's lawyers represented us in the disgorgement case, but the suit was dropped. 9/11 was bad. I had gone 200% long on Friday 9/7/2011. My wife was stuck in her office in the Sears Tower (now Willis) and there was chatter that the Sears was a target. Then the mkt closure. Worst week of my (trading) life. I went to Paloma with a friend from undergrad. I had met Taleb a few times. He sent me a drunken email one day and I posted it here under riskarb or atticus. He sent the email from his Blackberry while vacationing in Florence, IIRC. He didn't do well at Paloma. I worked as a PM for Paloma, Apogee, Millennium, Brummer and another shop that I cannot name. I trade OPM now for two brothers and a third partner in Texas. Our agreement allows me to trade my IRA. My wife trades a bit as well.
I posted this run because it's the only run in which I've ever received paper while working as a PM. Everything else has been electronic/read-only. $2MM in futures and $10MM in equity vol/listed equities. I've been doing this a long time. I am not looking for OPM.
Des - Just wanted to say, thanks for posting your trades. I've learned a lot from them and it's helped me improve my trading quite dramatically over the last couple of months. Honestly I don't care whether the trades you post here are real fills or not. All I know is that using similar strategies (dumbed down versions of them, at least) has been working for me. Hope you continue to post your trades so we can keep learning.
