The biggest loser in Bob Iger's return as Disney's CEO will be Gov. Ron DeSantis, who will most likely be banished to the shadow realm by the Wizard from Orlando. Bob Iger truly has a "will take no shiat from politicians who f@ck with Disney" attitude. Bob Iger Return Puts Disney on Collision Course With Ron DeSantis https://www.newsweek.com/bob-iger-return-puts-disney-collision-course-ron-desantis-1761030
Really? Disney needs to watch its step. Some of its past skirmishes have not worked out very well for them. Not only the woke stuff being exposed but the extreme racism being exposed as well. Whereas Ron made out pretty well.
Under Bob Iger, the top two priorities regarding the Florida government will be: Negotiating an end to Florida's attempt to dissolve the Reedy Creek special tax district. Florida's attempt to do this has already fallen apart and their current proposal appears to be just re-establishing the district under a different name with some changes. Disney is going to demand the original tax district be kept in place. Disney and it's new CEO are big advocates that their corporate speech will not be controlled by government entities or politicians. Disney's advocacy is aligned with keeping their customer's happy -- not catering to political parties & their agendas. Disney will demand that politicians in Florida cease with trying to control statements coming out of the company. This policy regarding Disney and corporate speech & government entities/politicians extends back to the founder, Walt Disney -- who did not put up with any crap either. I expect the first path will be quiet & private behind the scenes negotiation. If this fails to work then Disney will go on a full public offensive right about the time DeSantis declares himself a candidate for President. And if anyone has followed Iger's campaigns in the past to take on government entities and politicians -- knows this will not go well for DeSanits. DeSantis needs to "settle" with Disney before he considers running for President --- unless he wants to see Disney plus their partners embark on a brutal public media campaign against him. All those old Disney WW2 clips mocking Nazis are going to be very useful.
DeSantis' two flights to relocate immigrants from San Antonio to Martha's Vineyard cost a little over $153,000. So of course the state paid more than $1.5 million to the contractor for them. Naturally the company is well tied into DeSantis and state GOP. Flights to Martha’s Vineyard cost a fraction of what contractor charged Florida to relocate migrants Invoice shows 2 private jets to cost Fla. $153K https://www.abcactionnews.com/news/...ntractor-charged-florida-to-relocate-migrants They’re the Florida-funded flights that just keep raising questions. Now newly released invoices from August show the company which provided the private jets, Ultimate Jetcharters, quoted a price of just over $153,000 for two flights that took place from San Antonio, Texas, to Bedford, Massachusetts, on September 14, 2022. But that total is just a fraction of the more than $1.5 million Florida has already paid to Vertol Inc, the aviation company Florida hired to coordinate and facilitate all aspects of these migrant flights. The controversial flights are part of the state’s new $12 million migrant relocation plan, which Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has described as his answer to what he calls “Biden’s border crisis.” Text messages we obtained as part of our ongoing records requests show the state’s contractor, Vertol Inc, started coordinating these flights at least a month before they took off. The coordination involved some high-ranking Florida officials, including the Governor’s Chief of Staff, members of Florida’s Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and the state’s new public safety czar, Larry Keefe. Gawd, that was awful. Both Disney and DeSantis got their digs in and got to wave their flags a bit. They both also saw the "limits" of their positions. It is very common for you low-T males to not be able to understand how often people are able to just work things out on the playground. I don't think either one of them want the level of conflict that you are hoping for. Although there will be some and you will blow it all out of proportion.
Which is why i outlined that Disney will first try to work things out quietly in private. If Disney is unable to work things out by mid-summer 2023 with DeSantis (when the special tax district is due to be dissolved) -- then Disney will go nuclear. And Iger is very good at going nuclear on politicians. Disney has a message for little Ron.
