To be sure, there is a lot of main stream media slant that pushes a very one-sided story against DeSantis for many of the reason I've stated ad naseam around here. But none of those articles (that I've seen) have shown any specific poll data. A search hasn't even shown what AA support DeSantis got in the last mid term election. As for people you know, that's a fair pulse and its fine - but are you the type of guy who surrounds yourself with people who think differently to yourself or do you normally surround yourself with people who echo what you think? You probably have a greater AA circle than I do - but I've got quite a few in my friend circle, and we're all Floridians. And while some find issue with DeSantis, most like the guy for what he did for Florida during COVID. Though I have not asked them anything about this latest media tirade.
I dont think a poll is needed to know how black voters nationally will react to this when Dems are shoving it in their faces 24/7 if Desantis is The GOP nominee While the black vote in FL don't matter,in a nationwide race it usually does, but the abortion issue will offset lower black voter turnout imo.If DeSantis is the nominee I expect black voter turnout to be higher than other GOP candidates.Overall abortion and DeSantis being hated as much as Trump by many is the biggest reasons he will lose if the nomoniee. There is not much polling but blacks in Fl dont seem to like him.
People like me.But I'm progressive, and many progressives hate moderate democrats as much they hate republicans so we can give fair assessments imo.
Ok, we can agree to disagree on the fairness of those assessments. But this was the release of the statement regarding the "suspension of African American studies" that is being trumpeted everywhere: As Governor DeSantis said, African American History is American History, and we will not allow any organization to use an academic course as a gateway for indoctrination and a political agenda. We look forward to reviewing the College Board’s changes and expect the removal of content on Critical Race Theory, Black Queer Studies, Intersectionality and other topics that violate our laws. This, of course, is very different from "rejecting African American studies" as the media is claiming.
Now they're going to release the course curriculum. Will be interesting to see whether DeSantis overreacted or not. https://www.dailywire.com/news/coll...&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=dwnewstwitter “They’re advocating things like abolishing prisons. Now that’s a radical political position,” @GovRonDeSantis told reporters. “You’re free to take that in your own life, I don’t think very many people think that would actually work, but how is that being taught as fact?”
True. But Dems are obviously going to spin it differently to The AA community if DeSantis is the nominee. The GOP was in a really good position for 2024 due to so many blacks being pissed at Biden(his approval ratings with blacks are 50-60% while Clinton's and Obamas were in the 90's) as well as with progressives such as myself who will not be voting for Biden. They fucked it up ending Roe where it was a top issue in swing states in 2022 and will be again in 2024 imo. They will mess it up even more if they nominate DeSantis who democrats can use to get black voters out to vote against more than they could other candidates imo.DeSantis having black voters arrested will be huge for Dems getting black voters out to vote imo.
Not sure but Im guessing down.Gillum being black and progressive would get him more support than than a white moderate former republican with blacks. The race with Gillum would have also affected black turn out.The race with Gillum was very close and they knew he had a chance to win.Everyone knew Crist had no chance which would cause many to not bother voting.
