DeSantis for the win

Most government organizations in the U.S. have clear rules about not being allowed to be a paid foreign agent or lobbyist while working a government job. Is the DeSantis administration in Florida somehow different? Can his appointees feel free at any point to be both paid lobbyists while working for DeSantis? Can DeSantis' appointees not disclose their previous paid lobbying work for foreigners prior to working a government job (you know - as required by both federal and state laws)?

What exactly are the limits on improper conduct in the DeSantis administration? There does not appear to be any.

Did Hunter Biden ever hold a government job? The disclosure and registration is required for government positions. Likewise the prohibition on being paid by a foreign entity exists during the time you are in your government position.

  4. I am not going to go full google but if you are talking FARA registration I do not immediately acknowledge your definition of who must register.

As I recall, the criteria goes to the issue of whether you are representing a foreign government in this country or if you are trying to influence the U.S. government or its agencies on behalf of the foreign government.

Not sure that being in a government position is the controlling factor.

Yes, the rules are much more complex than I have outlined. However — basically when you take a federal or state government job as either a direct employee or contractor there is generally a requirement to disclose any paid role where you have either worked as an agent (lobbyist) of a foreign government or have been a direct employee or contractor of a foreign government. For the federal government all of this impacts security clearances as well. On top of this there are prohibitions on being a paid agent (lobbyist) of a foreign entity while you are still employed by the government.

in regards to Hunter Biden — unless he gets employed by a government agency then these rules don’t apply to him. I am sure there are probably other rules (FARA, etc.) for individuals & family members of politicians in office being required to disclose foreign funds paid to them for lobbying purposes — but all of this is a separate web to untangle.

It appears that DeSantis’ press secretary was taking in foreign lobbying money both before and during the time she was in her government position without any type of disclosure — as far as I can tell from the timeline. This is much more grievous than merely failing to register as a foreign agent IMO.

  6. Hunter may not have problems violating government employee requirements but he sure as hell has FARA issues. His own former business partner testifies in living color and in detail about how Hunter was getting paid by Chinese state-owned companies and peddling influence all over DC to make their deals happen. Big guy gets 10 too. He doesnt have any problems with the Justice Department because they will not touch it. Same way that they just let Hunter off the hook for tax avoidance to the tune of 2 million a couple weeks ago by just letting someone else pay up for him. Probably someone who needs a favor from Joe.

When the republicans get hold of Congress, they will not let him off so easy though. They will at least expose all the corruption around him and the other Biden family members. Maybe the republicans will even decide who the dems will have on the committee to look at it, as the dems did to the republicans in the Jan6 Soviet show trial.

Show proof that she was taking money, and then show where this is against the law if she somehow was.

Not conjecture - which is what you do best. Not narrative, but proof.
