No, you should be trying to show me the source that proves your claim - which you never can seem to do. You're saying Special Olympics participants are at-risk. Show where I can see this is true. Stop stalling.
There are endless papers showing many participants at the special Olympics are medically at risk. Most have physical impairments (which causes risks in events) and comorbidities which impact competing and clearly places them in the at-risk group for Covid (obesity, diabetes, etc.). There are many medical papers and articles documenting this which can be found in a simple Google search. If you don't believe me -- then go do what I have done in the past -- go volunteer at your local Special Olympics events and see for yourself. Here are the first two results of a simple Google search. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC155406/ "Many Special Olympics athletes experience hypokinetic diseases and comorbid conditions that may predispose them to serious injuries during physical activity. A clear understanding of these conditions and diseases may assist health care professionals in preventing further distress and managing the injuries sustained by these athletes. Such diseases and conditions include overweight and obesity, diabetes, vision problems, seizure disorders, and Down syndrome, which is often associated with atlantoaxial instability." https://resources.specialolympics.org/research/health-research-and-evaluation
Ok, I can totally see how they are predisposed to serious injuries during physical activity - that makes total sense. I see nothing in any of your links making them at-risk to COVID. Nothing at all. Besides, even if they were (which they are not), they could get vaccinated if they wanted, right?
Obesity, diabetes and the other listed conditions don't make them at-risk for Covid? What magical world do you live in? (Obviously not Disney).
Obesity is a factor, as is diabetes. But how many are diabetic? Lots of kids are fat and pre-diabetic. So that doesn't differ from normal children. So again I ask you, how many children died of COVID? Since the start of the pandemic?? I'll even settle for how many special needs children.
DeSantis comes out directly and states he cancelled the $35 million for the Tampa Bay Rays facility because they spoke out against gun violence - as he proclaimed it is 'inappropriate to subsidize political activism". Once again DeSantis punishes corporations and people who oppose his political narrative. So much for free speech. Anyone who continues to stick to a line of "not giving taxpayer dollars to national sports teams" narrative as the only factor underlying the veto obviously has a screw loose -- seeing DeSantis never opposed giving money to professional sports teams in the past. 'Inappropriate to subsidize political activism': DeSantis speaks out after nixing funds for Tampa Bay Rays facility days after team posted anti-gun rant https://www.theblaze.com/news/desantis-vetoes-tampa-bay-rays-gun-activism
This is a complete and total lie, and what I expect from you. I watched (and posted!) the entire speech above that references this. He did not say he cancelled the $35 million because they spoke out against gun violence! You're flat out lying (again). When asked the question, he says: "No, I don't support giving taxpayer dollars to professional sports teams - period." (after thunderous applause dies down) "So at the end of the day, that was just the decision that was going to be made. Now, companies are free to engage or to not engage with whatever discourse they want, but clearly its inappropriate to be doing tax dollars for professional sports stadiums, its also inappropriate to subsidize political activism of private corporations. So I think, you know, either way its not appropriate, but we were not in a situation where use of tax dollars for a professional stadium would have been a prudent use. And again, you know, I set that limit for what we were going to spend, and we made sure we would do it. And what we try to do with these projects is doing things that would benefit the community as a whole more so than one specific interest or one specific company." Here you go, NPC. Right from DeSantis's mouth.
if you claim the right-wing Blaze is misquoting DeSantis then take it up with them. Also you can take it up with the very many other media outlets both right and left who outlined DeSantis’ remarks showing he clearly targeted the baseball funding due to their remarks about gun control.
I didn't even click on the link. I'm just pointing out that you're a liar, and will latch on to anything that pushes your narrative and post it as truth. In this case, I had already posted the governor's speech and you had the ability to spend one minute listening, but chose to post a crappy source that - instead - told you what you wanted to hear. Then you came here, and pretended it was truth. I don't give a shit what the media says - you can HEAR the words directly from DeSantis in that 1 min clip. If they choose to misrepresent it the same way YOU do, then you're all liars. Its very obvious what happened.
