Are you a corporation that is opposed to the mass murder of children? Well DeSantis is going to take your money away. Because he is petty like that.

DeSantis Vetoes Funding for Tampa Bay Rays Facility Over Tweets About Gun Control: Report
    https://www.mediaite.com/sports/des...acility-over-tweets-about-gun-control-report/

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) vetoed a budget item for a new practice facility for the Tampa Bay Rays over the team’s recent tweets about gun control.

The Florida Republican signed his state’s new budget Thursday for the coming fiscal year, which begins on July 1.

    NPR in Tampa Bay reported,

Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a record $109.9 billion budget for the fiscal year that will begin July 1, but vetoes included funds for a Pasco sports complex and an H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center facility in Pasco County.

Pointing to a need to further brace the state against a potential recession, Gov. Ron DeSantis issued $3.13 billion in vetoes Thursday as he signed a record $109.9 billion budget for the fiscal year that will begin July 1.

Among items vetoed were funds to build the Rays’ $35 million practice facility. Outick reported DeSantis blocked the allocation after the team tweeted about recent mass shootings across the country.

    Bobby Burack of Outkick wrote,

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis plans to veto a $35 million legislation for a Pasco County facility that’s earmarked for the Tampa Bay Rays’ spring training, OutKick has learned.

DeSantis’s decision is in response to the Rays politicizing recent shootings in Buffalo and Uvalde ahead of a matchup with the Yankees in May.

The report cited a tweet from the team from May 26 that asked for donations to the gun control group Everytown for Gun Safety.

Christina Pushaw, a spokeswoman for DeSantis, appeared to confirm the report when she retweeted it Thursday evening.

  2. All the cons love it when the government uses its power to punish private citizens who express a voice.....

These are the same fucktards who cry about the constitution huh....

    fucking hypocrites..

Fox News is saying the same thing basically about the fact that Desantis is vetoing a bunch of spending and included tampa bay in there.

Pushaw retweeted because of the statement of Josh Hammer in response to the claims in the article - not supporting the article's hypothesis (which is all that it is). She supports the statement that DeSantis-

is the most dynamic conservative elected official in America—the one who most clearly “gets” our current moment—and it is not a particularly close call.
That's it. I read the "outkick" (which I suppose is slightly better than "BlogMickey") but "Outkick" provides no support whatsoever that the governor withheld funds over a tweet. None. Let me know when you find some, because I've not been able to find any.

And will you change your tune if it comes out that DeSantis made the decision on some other grounds? Because he vetoed lots of things in the budget, not just this - because the budget proposed was the largest in the state's history.

Flush with cash from robust state revenues and federal funds, South Florida legislators packed the state budget with a record amount of local projects, and on Thursday Gov. Ron DeSantis erased tens of millions of dollars of them as he slashed a record $3.1 billion in line-item vetoes.

In total, the governor cut about $30 million that would have supported at least 43 South Florida projects — including a new South Miami police station, funding for Miami-Dade County’s Ludlam Trail for walking and cycling, $1 million for Little Havana senior services and a Broward Health program that helps front-line workers prevent healthcare-associated infections.
Things he did include (but you grifters won't mention any of this):

Many of the big-ticket budget items that were left intact will also have an impact in South Florida.

For instance, the budget includes 5.38% pay raises for all state workers and a commitment that no state workers will earn less than $15 an hour. It includes additional pay raises for prosecutors and public defenders that will range from $5,000 to $10,000. The pay raises will take effect July 1.

I am just going by what FOX NEWS reported...

I wonder if the GOP is supporting his defund the police program cuting funds for the police department

Yes, I would. Because I don't agree with the first analysis either.

It is highly unlikely that DeSantis gave a shit about some tweet. But since I don't know, I'll wait to find out. It is far more likely that partisan hacks and NPCs like GWB leap to judgment based on their talking points for a governor they hate more than life itself.

  7. Again... FOX NEWS reported it..... I dont think they are against DeSantis. Problem is you can never prove it either way because someone told DeSantis after Disney to shut up and stop giving ammunition for the other side in a court case.

As you have said many times, all the media is the same. And I don't trust any of them. Lets see what the governor says about it, or his spokesperson.

The only reason this is something we are talking about is because the media - in general - hates DeSantis. The other 49 governors (with the exception of Newsome) get no press on stuff like this.

  9. I am actually indiffierent on DeSantis... what i hate about him is he is basically more concerned about running for 2024 than running his state so he is basically catering to a base so i put him in the same AOC-Cruz category. The business with Disney was the last straw of me giving him the benefit of the doubt because he had no issues with Disney and their money until they spoke out agaisnt a bill he supported. He hated the "Dont Say Gay" nomenclature but then implicitly supported the narrative that Disney pushes a gay agenda or wanted something horrible in schools.

Desantis has no political redeeming qualities so he gets no benefit of the doubt, not becuase he is GOP. His actions with the cruise ships and social media and redistricting shows he basically does whatever a consultant says will get the far right behind him. And I disliked Cuomo about as much for same swarmy personality and approach..Governors are mini presidents acting like they matter.

So you never heard of the conservative media outlet Outkick. Along with Fox News, the NY Post, and Washington Examiner -- it seems to be right up your alley. Did DeSantis' spokesperson Christina Pushaw post on Twitter bragging about any other items that DeSantis cut from the budget? You mean she only proudly posted the conservative Outkick article while bragging how great DeSantis is.

    Let's educate you a little.

By the way Outkick is owned by FOX since 2021.

Founded in 2011 by sports commentator Clay Travis, OutKick is a sports news website featuring conservative political opinions. The website lacks transparency as they do not offer an about page or disclose ownership. In 2021, Clay Travis and Buck Sexton formed a conservative radio program that took over Rush Limbaugh’s radio time slot.

Fox Corp, held by the Murdoch family, owns and publishes Outkick. The sale of merchandise, advertising and subscription fees generate revenue.
