The DeSantis administration cannot cite a single example of CRT or SEL in any of the rejected math text books -- despite the publishing companies and others demanding they do so. Even the right-wing Daily Caller is taking DeSantis to task on this.

DeSantis’ Office Drags Its Feet Justifying Massive Textbook Rejection

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ office refused to provide specific examples of critical race theory material in more than 50 mathematics textbooks that they banned, despite several appeals with the Daily Caller.

Christina Pushaw, DeSantis’s spokeswoman, blamed “copyright” that prevented the office from sharing details that might convince the public. Pushaw said that the office plans to share examples when it’s “legally permissible.”

“Governor DeSantis has consistently said … that he would support publicizing examples of indoctrination from these textbooks if and when it becomes legally permissible to share,” the spokeswoman said.

On April 15, the Florida Department of Education announced that Florida rejected 54 of the 132 proposed mathematics textbooks for including “references to Critical Race Theory (CRT), inclusion of Common Core, and the unsolicited addition of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) in mathematics.”

Neither the Florida Department of Education or the Governor’s office provided information regarding which of the 54 textbooks were axed for CRT and SEL or Common Core standards.

Florida Cited 'Critical Race Theory' to Ban Math Text Books but DeSantis Can't Name One Example

You do realize that your "trusted" news sources can't even report correctly, right? No one "banned" books. States (surely not just Florida) review textbooks each year on what they want to approve or not accept for learning purposes. These were not accepted.

Banned is like, when California banned "To Kill a Mockingbird".

Yet the DeSantis administration cannot provide any reasons of why these math books were rejected. He cannot cite a single example of CRT or SEL in any of the text books. Despite the publishing companies stating that it does not violate "copyright" to publicly provide example text from the books showing why they were rejected (something most other states do in public documents).

Even the publishing companies are scratching their heads because the rejection letters from the DeSantis administration simply say the books are rejected in a single sentence without citing a single example within the text (which is a standard industry practice).

Rejecting a large number of math text books -- including all the math books for elementary schools except for one -- without citing examples from each text of why they were rejected -- demonstrates a complete lack of transparency in the text book rejection process.

Cannot or will not? Sounds to me like he simply isn't adhering to the requests because he knows (rightfully so) that any answer he gives to the woke mob (you are included here) won't be good enough no matter what. So why try? I actually applaud him for ignoring you and yours. Weep and gnash all the teeth you want, we don't give a fuck.

Bottom line: DeSantis is full of shit and cannot provide a single example from a rejected math text book to back his assertions. What happened to your constant whine of "where's the data" for everything? Well DeSantis needs to produce the data, otherwise he is shoveling horse manure.

Even conservative media is calling him out on this one.

  6. Perhaps there's something shady going on in the background, quite apart from his snowflaky self-righteous indignation.

Where is the data? Show it to me.

And what conservative media is calling him out on this one?

Other than that, I really don't care. Apparently neither does the governor - nor do Floridians, if poll data is representative.

I was going to bring that up at some point... but am waiting for some type of evidence that DeSantis & others was demanding campaign contributions from the text book publishers or some other malarkey before making any claims about anything shady.

You were going to bring up what? And why should you wait on evidence before making claims? Are you turning over a new leaf or something?

Florida's Sunshine law cares about the data. The DeSantis administration is require to publicly release the data supporting their decisions. Where is the data?

Explain to us --- once again -- why DeSantis does not follow the law. How many lawsuits has the DeSantis administration lost now regarding their refusal to release data? Dozens? How many hundreds of thousands of dollars has the DeSantis administration spent on losing lawsuits where they attempted to hide government data and refuse to release it?
