His office claims local news ran with the story, and that's how he got it. I honestly didn't investigate any further because I couldn't care any less. All politicians tell "stories" to further what they're trying to accomplish. Like Cornpop.
problem is.it gets picked up and repeated non stop. then when we find out its false they simply say it.doesnt matter.... wash rinse repeat for politicians
I don’t know what this don’t say gay stuff is about. Did some teacher in florida really teach a 1st grader they can cut off their genitalia? Is this actually true?
Its a preventative bill, mostly. DeSantis noticed stuff going on around the country and - supposedly - in some Florida schools and took a proactive stance preventing grades PreK through 3 from having discussions with children without parental approval on topics of sex and gender identity. Essentially.
I get it, DeSantis started a culture war for no reason under the guise of “prevention.” So now @Mercor can accuse the left of wanting to teach 1st graders to cut off their ducks. But in fact @Mercor is actually telling a tale full of sound and fury but signifying nothing. Florida gonna florida, I guess.
It's not true……no schools in Florida teaches 1st graders about gays and lesbians. DeSantis is carving out a platform for himself using lies and made up shit , at the same time assembling his own base of ball-bearers. These are the same people who were demanding government stay out of peoples lives.
Ah, no reason. Right. I've got a ton of these. But yeah, its probably nothing. Florida gonna Florida.
I don’t see any instances of much here in schools other than pre-k flag thing in Illinois I couldn’t verify. The rest is objectionable books and television stuff. Not school related. I actually don’t know how I feel about the trans flag thing either. I went to school with a lot of African American kids who did not stand for the pledge of allegiance in the 1990s and some of their parents might have a problem if their kids were made to color an American flag. A lot of this stuff is personal choice. A letter home asking if you would like your kid excluded would solve a lot of problems.
If you want your kids to learn about all that stuff from teachers who are essentially activists, you should teach them so. Hire a tutor, do what you want. Your kids and all that. Personally, I (and the majority of parents) prefer teachers teaching math, reading and writing. Stuff like that. And that's why DeSantis is so popular. He gets it.
But that’s the point, it’s not actually being taught to the kids in school. You’re basically making up a bogeyman and being provocative to lgbtq people. Think about it from an lgbtq person’s perspective, you’re sitting there doing nothing and all of a sudden there’s this legislation targeting you for no real reason. They do have a right to be like wtf?
