Florida COVID update: State reports record cases, and number in hospital is up again

Florida on Monday reported 125,996 cases and 182 new deaths to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, according to Miami Herald calculations of CDC data. This is the largest multi-day increase of newly reported cases since the pandemic began in March 2020.

Of these cases, the ones that were reported Saturday (77,156) also break the previous single-day case record, which was reported Thursday with 76,887 cases.

Yet Florida is in the top 5 in case rate per capita -- and North Carolina is nowhere near this level on the list.

Covid rates are increasingly bullfeathers anyway. Thanks to your president there are not enough tests available to know what's what or any requirement that people who test at home report results to the government. Management of the whole national scene is a clown cluster.

 

You would think that a state with an lot of older, highly susceptible residents would adopt proper public health measures such as masks in order to protect this vulnerable population. You know... if they had decent leadership, but Florida does not.

 

Some of the older folks value freedom and DeSantis has properly responded to that. California and New York have all the rules, and also a giant size portion of covid. But no freedom. Or rather, it varies from day to day as the political polls tell them what their "science" needs to be this week.

Your dem buddies are not above making trips to Florida to get a little dose of freedom either, eh?
