I'll happily talk about it, NPC GwB. What did you want to discuss? The high case rate or the low death rate?

Once again... everyone knows how the current situation is going to end in Florida as the state hits new records in hospitalizations and ICUs are being overwhelmed. At this point it is possible to statistically calculate the number of upcoming deaths based on the current hospitalizations -- and the picture is looking grim in Florida.

While the treatment of COVID patients has improved in hospitals with new therapies, drugs, and methods -- the percentage of those dying in hospitals is still above 6% -- and now rising in July. For those intubated the death rate rises to 50% which is better than the earlier 80%

Much of the recent death rate reduction in 2021 is due to unvaccinated COVID patients being younger and healthier generally. You can basically calculate the upcoming COVID deaths hospitals will have by performing a look up based on the age, gender, and comorbidities of the current patients.

The only thing that will reduce the upcoming misery in Florida is the state-wide imposition of proper public health measures to address the misery and death being caused by COVID. Unless Florida masks-up, restricts indoor gatherings, promotes vaccination, and takes other measures --- the infection through the unvaccinated community will continue unabated over the upcoming months.

"DeSantis for the win" -- Demand for COVID testing in Florida leads to hours long lines...

COVID In Florida: Demand For Testing At An All-Time High As Delta Variant Surges
    https://miami.cbslocal.com/2021/08/...-at-an-all-time-high-as-delta-variant-surges/

As COVID infections soar in South Florida, demand for testing is at an all-time high.

The line at Mills Pond Park in Ft. Lauderdale stretched nearly twice around the testing site on Monday, reminiscent of the picture a year ago when the virus ran rampant.

    Ron DeSantis chanting "we're #1, we're #1, we're #1"...

Florida is now topping its worst COVID-19 infection and hospitalization numbers of the pandemic
    https://theweek.com/coronavirus/100...ovid-19-infection-and-hospitalization-numbers

The Florida Hospital Association reported10,389 COVID-19 hospitalizations on Monday, the highest statewide number of the pandemic, two days after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Florida had registered more than 21,000 new coronavirus infections on Friday, the state's highest one-day total. Florida's previous hospitalization record, set July 23, 2020, was 10,170, the hospital association said.

The Delta variant is driving the sharp uptick in COVID-19 cases in Florida and across the U.S. Florida accounts for roughly 20 percent of new U.S. cases.

About 95 percent of hospitalized COVID-19 patients are unvaccinated, says Mary Mayhew, chief executive of the Florida Hospital Association. And with the age of sick COVID-19 patients dropping amid the Delta surge, "we have to convince 25-year-olds, 30-year-olds that this is now life threatening for them," she told MSNBC's Morning Joe on Monday. "That is not what they saw and what we experienced last year."

The average age of Floridians hospitalized with COVID-19 is now 42 years old, NBC News' Vaughn Hillyard reported Monday.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) and his representatives point to the lower age of infected Floridians as proof of the wisdom of getting the large majority of people 65 and older fully vaccinated first.

DeSantis "has been at the forefront of the Republican effort to find a middle ground between his party's stated opposition to measures aimed at containing the virus and keeping case totals low," and "he has been more vocal than many about the need for widespread vaccinations, "Philip Bump writes atThe Washington Post. " If there is a silver lining here, it's this: The surge in cases may be doing what DeSantis wasn't able to. Since June 21, the state has recorded an increase in daily vaccinations." Also encouraging is "the fact that — so far, at least — the increase in cases and hospitalizations hasn't led to significant increases in deaths," Bump adds.

But aside from the jump in vaccinations, Florida "is trending in the wrong direction in almost every other measurable COVID-19 category,"Politico reports. "Last week, Florida reported 110,477 new cases, which is a nearly 600 percent increase from the 15,998 new cases reported just four weeks earlier. Over the past month, the statewide positivity rate has jumped from 5.3 to 18.1 percent," even as DeSantis "has maintained a strict 'no-mandate' approach" to COVID-19.

so make some predictions. Stop spamming articles that are subjective and opinionated and show us your predictions.

Right now, all I see is "It's gonna be bad!!"

I'll note you said this last year too. Should I get the quotes from last summer you made back out again for laughs?

"DeSantis for the win" -- New Day, New Record

Florida again breaks record for COVID-19 hospitalizations
    https://www.pbs.org/newshour/nation/florida-again-breaks-record-for-covid-19-hospitalizations

The number of people hospitalized for COVID-19 in Florida rose to an all-time high of 11,515 patients in one day, according to data the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services released Tuesday.

The data is used by the Florida Hospital Association to track admissions and staffing shortages. The figures also show 2,400 of those patients are in ICU beds.

The previous day, the data showed there were 10,389 COVID-hospitalizations in the state.

The new number breaks a previous record for current hospitalizations set more than a year ago before vaccines were available. Last year, Florida hit its previous peak on July 23, with 10,170 hospitalizations.

Hospitals around the state report having to put emergency room visitors in beds in hallways and others document a noticeable drop in the age of patients.
