As previously documented Mexico found it's first Delta case a mere 15 days ago. The number of Delta variant cases in Mexico is very low. It is interesting to note that the few Delta cases in Mexico appear to be related to Americans going to Mexico on vacation and spreading it there among Mexican staff that work in the tourist industry. We are actually infecting Mexico with Delta; not the other way around.
DeSantis is like......''Look at me.....i'm the face of 2024.'' DeSantis spending $3.6 million of Florida taxpayers’ money to send checks with governor’s logo to cops and teachers Ron DeSantis is spending $3.6 million to send $1000 paper checks emblazoned with the logo of the Florida Governor through the mail to the state's police officers and first responders, and teachers and principals, rather than use the direct deposit payroll systems currently in place. The $1000 checks are being called "bonuses" but the funds actually come from President Joe Biden's federal stimulus program. The checks will not have the logo of the President of the United States or the Democratic Party. No Republican Senator or Congressman voted to pass the bill that funded the $1000 checks. Some in Florida are blasting the Republican governor, a major Trump supporter and likely 2024 presidential candidate. To make matters worse, The U.S. Dept. of Education notified Florida its program violates the federal agency's rules, but the State of Florida said it disagrees. "Instead of sending the money directly to local governments to disburse to their employees, as the state has done with previous teacher bonuses, the state is paying Fidelity to do the work," the Miami Herald reports, citing the $3.6 million fee on top of the actual money to fund the $1000 disbursements. "That has prompted accusations from some lawmakers and teachers union officials that DeSantis is using the bonuses to score political points." “They could have just sent the money to school districts at no cost to taxpayers," Andrew Spar, president of the Florida Education Association, told the Herald. “It sounds like the governor's wasting money." The move is similar to one the former president, Donald Trump, made with federal stimulus funds, "suggesting" his name be printed on federal COVID stimulus checks. The "suggestion" was granted by Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin.
Similar to how Trump was sending out letters with federal government pandemic payments that took credit for it all and read like campaign material.
Right, because Mexico has such robust health testing across rural Mexico. Please. All you do is make up hypothesis that best fit your narrative, ignoring any other possibilities that run counter to The Religion™. What we know: Indians cross the southern border illegally. We know this. And this has the potential to bring the Delta variant. But DeSantis.
Which is mentioned at the bottom of the article exactly. At least we know you only read the headlines. In other news, politicians waste money.
So how many Indian immigrants crossed the border in 2020 and 2021 -- seeing that Indians flying to Mexico since the pandemic started has been nearly zero.
I mean, we've been saying neither terrorists, nor rapists, nor voter fraud, nor MS13 gangbangers come across the border in any significant numbers. I'm guessing clowns are saying Indians/Delta is coming across the border based on your response? Lolz See that's what happens when you attach "india or China" variant to a virus. The same thing as "spanish flu". If clowns had some semblance of critical thinking, they'd know that Delta merely originated in India, and it's not the main virus in India. Clowns would realize Delta likely sneaked in through UK travel, much like the Spanish flu which originated in the USA. But racists gonna race, and clowns are gonna clown:
Great job, DeSantis. So much "winning" Florida close to worst COVID-19 week ever with more than 110,000 infections https://www.orlandosentinel.com/cor...0210731-vj3bsqocabb4xg2fms7zbeenjq-story.html The state Department of Health reported 110,724 new coronavirus cases this week among Florida residents to bring the cumulative total to 2,590,699. With 409 more fatalities, 39,079 Florida residents are now dead. This week’s 409 deaths are up from the 282 last week, but deaths can take several days or weeks to be reported. Cases, though, jumped by more than 37,000 week over week, and positivity jumped as well to more than 18%. The jump in weekly positive cases nearly equals the worst week over week numbers the Sentinel tracked since March 2020. The week from Sunday-Sunday ending Jan. 10 saw 111,574 cases. No other week had more than 100,000 new cases. Reported deaths have been climbing the last four weeks, but still not near the 1,000 weekly reported deaths several times in January and February as well as last August. Of note, the new state reports deal only with Florida resident cases – instead of residents and non-residents combined – because the non-resident numbers are no longer available in the new reports. Across the state, hospitalizations continue to rise with 8.855 people hospitalized with COVID-19 for the seven-day period from July 21-27, according to the latest White House report. In comparison, 5,548 were hospitalized the previous week. The week before that, it was 3,652. Statewide, 11,757,156 residents, or 61% of ages 12 and up, have received at least one vaccination shot, including 10,046,576, who have completed their shot regimens. The count is a snapshot through July 29. Statewide, the latest weekly positivity rate reported by the Florida Department of Health was 18.1%, but that’s for new cases only and excludes anyone who previously tested positive. That is up from 15.3% reported last week. (Note from me -- a positive test rate above 5% is considered a threshold of being unsafe and signficant restrictions are required -- this is well beyond that.) (More at above url)
Just a reminder -- Ron DeSantis does not want your children to be safe; he merely wants to push his political narrative. "Lil' Trump" cares little about the death and misery his narrative will cause. At this point I expect many school systems in Florida will ignore his executive order which goes against the best public health guidance and is damaging to children. The whole matter is likely to land up in court. Florida governor signs executive order to prevent mask mandates in schools https://edition.cnn.com/us/live-new...c-07-30-21/h_922112db9bc448acf83cbd9e6bebaebf Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has issued an executive order that directs the state's health and education departments to issue emergency rules that prevent the implementation of a mask mandate in schools. A news release from the governor's office said that executive order 21-175 was issued "in response to several Florida school boards considering or implementing mask mandates in their schools after the Biden administration issued unscientific and inconsistent recommendations that school-aged children wear masks." It added that this was done "to protect parents’ freedom to choose whether their children wear masks." The executive order states that if the State Board of Education finds a school district board unwilling or unable to comply, they are able to withhold the transfer of state funds, discretionary grant funds, or discretionary lottery funds until they do. They may also declare the school ineligible for competitive grants. The latest data: DeSantis' order comes after the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention unveiled guidance earlier this week that people in areas with "high" or "substantial" Covid-19 transmission should resume wearing masks indoors. Over 75% of the US population live in these areas. The CDC released a new study Friday that shows the Delta Covid-19 variant produced similar amounts of virus in vaccinated and unvaccinated people if they get infected. The finding that the Delta variant resulted in similar viral loads "was a pivotal discovery leading to CDC's updated mask recommendation," Walensky said Friday. "The masking recommendation was updated to ensure the vaccinated public would not unknowingly transmit virus to others, including their unvaccinated or immunocompromised loved ones," the CDC director said.
