As I've indicated many times before, the new strains just need to be let run in order to reach herd immunity on each new strain. I'm glad it's running through Florida, so it will be done sooner than the rest of the nation. This is not the bubonic plague, but you and your ilk want to destroy American's Liberty on the back of it.

"These numbers are extraordinary. We are seeing nearly 1,000 new cases in Orange County daily. Those are the numbers we saw at the highest peak last year," Mayor Jerry Demings, a Democrat, said Monday during a news conference. "So a thousand a day is extraordinary. We are now in crisis mode."

So odd how no one is dying.

Also, 7 day average cases is 480. But hey, don't let data get in the way of a good press conference panic.

Also, peak in January was like 8 or 9k a day. But again, don't let facts interrupt the bullshit train.

Once again can you explain why the recent Florida death report claimed a mere 78 deaths from COVID while the actual number of deaths from COVID in Florida was actually 387 during the time period.

Why is the DeSantis adminstration continually reporting incorrect data?

At this point nobody including researchers believe the COVID death data being reported by the State of Florida.

But let's look at the reality - "Florida also reported more Covid-19 deaths than any other state over the past week -- a total of 282 over the past week -- the sixth highest per capita rate of deaths in the country."

So sad... the Delta variant in Florida is killing Ron DeSantis' 2024 chances. If only there was something he could have done to stop the widespread COVID death and misery in his state.

Ron DeSantis' 2024 road just hit a major Covid-19 bump
    https://www.cnn.com/2021/07/26/politics/desantis-florida-vaccines-covid-2024/index.html

For the past year or so, Ron DeSantis has been on a roll.

The Florida Republican governor's laissez-faire approach to Covid-19 -- and the relatively low number of cases and deaths in such a large and elderly state -- turned him into a celebrity in the same circles where Donald Trump is a secular saint.

Except that, suddenly, Florida's numbers don't look so good with the Delta variant of the coronavirus punishing the state.

As the Wall Street Journal wrote over the weekend:

"The state accounts for one in five new infections in the U.S. and logged 73,181 cases over the past week, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Florida had 341 cases per 100,000 people over the past week, second only to Louisiana. The weekly total of new cases reported by Florida jumped more than fourfold between July 1 and July 22, reaching its highest point since mid-January."

That surge has put pressure on DeSantis to take formal steps to limit the spread. He has, to date, resisted those efforts -- including any reconsideration of his order that kids returning to school in the state don't need to wear masks.

"We need our kids to be able to be kids," DeSantis said late last week. "We need them to be able to breathe. It's terribly uncomfortable for them to do it."

DeSantis has gone much more public with calls for unvaccinated Floridians to get the shot(s). "If you are vaccinated, fully vaccinated, the chance of you getting seriously ill or dying from COVID is effectively zero," he said at a news conference. "These vaccines are saving lives."

That public service message, however, ran directly into DeSantis' position as the heir to the Trump coalition in 2024. His campaign website was selling beverage-cooling sleeves that read "DON'T FAUCI MY FLORIDA," a reference to the science-based guidance in regard to the pandemic offered up by Dr. Anthony Fauci.

Depending on what you think of DeSantis, he has either been good or lucky to date in the pandemic. But the rising number of cases in Florida -- coupled with the increased transmissibility of the Delta variant -- poses a challenge that he hasn't had to deal with yet.

DeSantis seems likely to be faced with a clear challenge sometime soon: Do what's right for the state of Florida or continue to play to his 2024 ambitions by refusing to acknowledge that mitigation practices -- masks, social distancing, etc. -- are necessary and attacking the likes of Fauci.

The Point: Given the case numbers in Florida, things are likely to get worse before they get better. Which means that this is a major moment for DeSantis.

So the "Killeen Daily Herald" (whatever the hell that publication is) posts some internet article with no sources, but provides the following "journalism" awesomeness, complete with shoddy grammar:

California, Texas, New York and Illinois and Pennsylvania together logged 362 more COVID-19 fatalities in the same period, lower than Florida’s 387, the CDC’s website said.

But Florida’s Friday report states it logged only 78 more deaths this week. Yet the difference between the state report’s total statewide death toll of 38,670 and the 38,388 reported the week prior is 282
    .
...where it states that the difference between the state reports death toll of 282 doesn't line up with the 78. Holy shit, call the FBI!

Get over it, dude. Are you scrutinizing all data from all states for such discrepancies? Of course you're not.

But the moment something is a tad off in Florida, it's OH MY GOD DESANTIS IS LYING AND KILLING EVERYONE!! !11!

    You're a rube.

Sure. Just like COVID last year was going to kill his career. Just like labeling him "DeathSantis" was going to kill his career. Just like all the lunacy revolving around Jones was going to kill his career. Just like his supposed connection (no connection at all, but don't let that stop the narrative) with Gaetz would kill his career. Just like the B117 variant was going to kill his career. Just like the South African or Indian or UK or GWB variant was going to kill his career.

The walls are closing in. This is the beginning of the end. Its a bombshell.

The information is from AP (Associated Press) as clearly identified at the top of the article. The AP report can also be found in many Florida media outlets such as the Palm Beach Post. Keep in mind that AP operates on a distribution model.

Once again you don't have an explanation of why the DeSantis administration is once again misreporting death data.
