Why don't you ask your own local officials in the Tampa area who have quite clearly stated that DeSantis override local restrictions completely undermine public health in a global pandemic and never informed local officials before doing so.

Because I asked you, but you don't seem to be able to tell me what is suddenly "opening". My guess is that you can't. Because there's nothing different.

Oh, sure. Local democrat officials will whine and complain about it, but nothing is changing. It's just soundbytes - which, incidentally, is all the DeSantis order is. Soundbytes.

And DeSantis once again violates Florida state law... so much for open and transparent government.

Can you show me the law that says an "exclusive" interview must be open with all news agencies?

Also, Ron is probably thinking back to that fair treatment he was given on 60 minutes when he made this an exclusive.

Go study your state's Sunshine laws. Signing a bill is an official function of state. DeSantis can either invite all media or totally exclude media to official state functions. He can't pick and chose which media to invite to a bill signing event -- which is an official state function. Go read the Twitter thread for more info about Florida's laws.

    One example below...

'How fascists operate': Ron DeSantis slammed for signing anti-voting bill behind closed doors for Fox

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday barred local media outlets from covering his signing of S.B. 90, the latest state-level voter suppression law which makes voting by mail—which millions of Floridians have done for years—more difficult and discourages voters from waiting in long lines at the polls.

Ah, well if "Melissa" is accurate, I guess DeSantis will soon be arrested for breaking the law, right?

I mean, even the morally straight and narrow (and transparent!) Lincoln Project is taking umbrage on Florida's transparency.

Issue = You are pissed he did not let all the media in
Rule - you have not cited one that seems to be on point.
    Application - not done
Conclusion - you provide wrong ones 99 percent of the time.

IRAC is something law students learn.

So please provide the exact law you claim DeSantis broke...
Show... the facts that indicate he violated the law you cited.

I would be interested to read a law that says bill signing must be done in front of everyone who wishes to watch.

"DeSantis for the win" -- Florida ranks 41st for recovery from the pandemic. Great job Ron in making Florida a miserable COVID fiasco. The only thing you are "leading the way" in is serving as a poor example.

Analysis busts Ron DeSantis claim that Florida is 'leading the way' on pandemic recovery
    https://www.alternet.org/2021/05/desantis-2652902294/

On Monday, May 3, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed an executive order ending COVID-19-related restrictions in his state — declaring, "The approach here is Florida leading the way, again, because I think there's some states going a different direction." But an analysis from the financial website WalletHub and economists for Howard, Yale, Drexel and other major universities found that among 50 states and the District of Columbia, Florida is #41 in terms of recovery from the pandemic.

According to the analysis, a key factor in Florida coming in at #41 is its low vaccination rates.

Florida Today reporter Alessandro Marazzi Sassoon explains, "Florida performed relatively well in many metrics. It ranked 46th and 45th for COVID-19 death and hospitalization rates respectively, 16th for job postings and consumer spending compared to pre-pandemic levels and 14th for active real estate listings. As a result, Florida ranked 15th on the economy and labor market indicator."

Sassoon notes that the "22 different factors" in the analysis ranged from "COVID health" to "leisure and travel" to the "economy and labor market."

"The state was middle of pack on metrics like unemployment, real GDP and average daily restaurant visits, posting 28th, 19th and 21st places, respectively," Sassoon observes. "Florida lagged in key health metrics, ranking ninth for hospitals with staff shortages and 11th for supply shortages. It also has low vaccination rates compared to the rest of the country, ranking 37th for the share of the population fully vaccinated and the share of the vaccine supply used."

Sassoon points out that in Florida, a major concern for health experts that has been the aggressive COVID-19 variants that have emerged in other countries, including the ones first identified in Brazil, South Africa and the U.K.

"A strain that is deadlier, more contagious and resistant to inoculation could undo the progress made so far," Sassoon explains. "For now, the more virulent U.K., South Africa and Brazil variants are circulating in Florida, with numbers doubling in the past two weeks. Florida has more variant cases than any other state. According to DOH data through Monday, Florida posted 9050 cases of the B.1.1.7 variant, commonly called the UK strain; 464 cases of the Brazilian P.1 variant; and 52 cases of the B.1.351 variant, known as the South African variant, which is slightly resistant to vaccines."

Great job Ron in chasing an entire industry away from Florida. Every major cruise line has now announced they are preparing to move their ships to other states and not sail from Florida.

Cruise Giant Says It Might Entirely Avoid Florida Over DeSantis’ State Ban on Vaccine Checks
    https://www.thedailybeast.com/norwe...ida-over-desantis-state-ban-on-vaccine-checks

One of the biggest cruise companies in the world has come up with a simple solution to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ law banning the use of COVID-19 passports in the state: Completely avoiding its docks.

This month, DeSantis signed an executive order that prevents vaccine passports from being issued in the state, and also blocks businesses from asking for proof of vaccination status before customers enter their premises. That’s a problem for cruise lines, which have been told that they can only operate in U.S. waters if 95 percent of passengers have been vaccinated. Frank Del Rio, the CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line, reportedly said Thursday: “At the end of the day, cruise ships have motors, propellers, and rudders, and [if] God forbid we can’t operate in the state of Florida for whatever reason, then there are other states that we do operate from, and we can operate from the Caribbean for a ship that otherwise would have gone to Florida.” According to CNN, Del Rio said he has contacted DeSantis’ office.
