Just so I'm understanding this.... Legislation that supported a ban in Cruise traffic back in November, which was opposed by a businessman that profits by ....cruise traffic and that might not even be relevant now that people are vaccinated is a big deal because the guy who supports cruise traffic reopening donated to Ron DeSantis, who also supports the cruise industry returning to Florida because of all the income it brings, received a donation from the guy which is legal? What is the conspiracy here, again?
DeSantis supports the view of not letting vaccinated teachers back to school? Can you show me how you achieved this leap of logic?
So due to the the "brilliant" Ron DeSantis banning "vaccine passports" -- the cruise lines are making plans to move their ships to ports outside of Florida in the U.S. when the CDC allows them to sail again -- assuming DeSantis is actually stupid enough to attempt to enforce his idiotic rule. What a great win for Florida -- chasing away an entire industry. Of course, the Port Operator of the Miami seaport is desperate to influence DeSantis to not be an idiot about attempting to enforce his "COVID passport" ban on the cruise industry that the port operator has donated a million dollars in an attempt to influence DeSantis to mend his ways (and shut his mouth). The question is did the donations come from the port operator firm which includes government public funding or from the individual owner.
He should return the donations if he does not support this bat-shiat insane nonsense which undermines public health.
Possibly, but that's not a forgone conclusion at this point. If it doesn't happen, you going to go silent again? My bet is they come to some agreement rather soon. The cruise industry isn't going to give up Florida - they make a lot of money in Florida. They're not idiots. Or DeSantis might change his mind because of it. Of course, you up in North Carolina can tell us all about how it affects you. Right, so if you've got some evidence of illegal play, you should post it. Because right now you're just shrieking like you always do about a whole lot of nothing.
I'm sure he has a lot bigger things on his mind than to placate your opinion of him or what he should and should not do. But at least we can agree that this does not mean DeSantis supports this silly idea.
The only "agreement" that will come about --- is because DeSantis has no authority to regulate the cruise ships. DeSantis is not going to back down about squawking against "vaccine passports" -- it is all part of of his 2024 campaign for the president. At some point, the federal government will tell he has no power to regulate this and he will whine all over the news media about how evil the Biden administration is to overrule him while being secretly happy the cruises are still going out of Florida. Of course, the cruise lines are putting back-up plans in place in case DeSantis is successful in blocking "vaccine passports" for cruise ships at the Florida ports after the CDC allows U.S sailings. The cruise lines would prefer to sail from Florida ports -- but there are other options if DeSantis acts like an idiot. See the last paragraph of this article -- to see the reality https://www.travelpulse.com/news/fe...rida-could-affect-the-return-of-cruising.html "It doesn’t appear DeSantis can have it both ways, and attorneys familiar with maritime law told the Sun Sentinel that DeSantis doesn’t have the authority to force a vaccine ban on foreign-flagged vessels."
Possibly. That might be part of his plan - rallying his base against Biden even further. Of course, its equally possible - even more probable - that you have no idea what the hell you're talking about and will be flat out wrong again. But your hypothesis - all it is - could turn out to be correct. There are always options. But none so attractive as Florida for location and exposure to tourism. I trust the Sun Sentinel to provide us a non-partisan perspective like I trust you to.
Now back to see if gwbe a dipshit was right about the variants going to destroy florida. I guess not... yet.. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/usa/florida
Yeah, I've been wondering when the dreaded B-117 (insert scary music) was going to rear its ugly head like we were told weeks (months?) ago... I'll have to go back to review those posts for fun.
