OK.... let's start simple -- why are all the Florida papers reporting a COVID-19 death count of 46 for this Thursday while the state portal shows under 10 deaths? Explain this to all of us.

Show me "all the Florida papers" that are reporting a death count of 46 for this Thursday. I mean, if you want to start simple, start with your source.

We don't know that death rate is the only thing that matters, there is growing evidence that lasting effects on organs, especially the lungs and kidneys are possible. The jury is still out, but we don't know either way.

But you could argue that is the case with any cold or flu virus with the elderly or immune-compromised. Unless there is definitive evidence that the Covid-19 virus causes organ failure in healthy adults or children all on its own, and it is not because of some stupid treatment or drug (renal failure caused by treatment, for example) then this is just a hypothesis.

The vast majority of healthy adults and almost every single child infected by this virus has had no issues with it apart from "getting sick, and then getting better".

Death rate is the most important variable in the equation. People are going to get sick. As long as they recover and don't die from it, fine. Now, you could add - as long as they aren't permanently maimed by it, too. But there's no evidence to support that at this point.

You case count chart from the Florida state portal is also a joke. Let's take a look at the real numbers.

The case count today is already at 8,942 - a 62% jump from yesterday.

Florida adds another 8,942 new COVID-19 cases, breaking single-day record again
Friday's report of nearly 9,000 new cases caps weeks of record-high jumps with 8,942 being the highest ever.

Of course you can, but when you see things like the below.. you just don't know, it hasn't been around long enough to know long term effects, so we can't say death rate is only thing that matters.

    Blood clotting, stroke, and embolisms
Physicians report that patients hospitalized for Covid-19 are experiencing high rates of blood clots that can cause strokes, heart attacks, lung blockages, and other complications, Parshley reports.

For instance, physicians are seeing an uptick in strokes among young patients with Covid-19.

Don't try to move the goal posts. You said "all of the florida papers are showing a 46 death count as of Thursday."

I'm not moving on to another stat or topic until you either provide "all those papers" or withdraw the statement.

KJ, I see articles all the time that end up being rubbish. That's not science. That's hearsay. I'm not saying its false, but we shouldn't dictate policy on what we believe might be true. We should do it based on what we know to be true.

Even if this is true, it still doesn't change the fact that deaths are more important for very obvious reasons.

If deaths were skyrocketing, you can bet your ass it would be the number one most important statistic to the other side's argument day in and day out.

The sources have already been placed in this thread previously. Go to the bottom of page 30 of this thread and read the article from the Herald Tribune again.

And if you don't like that source you can easily go Google all the other Florida media sources reporting the same numbers for Thursday.

    Some of them include:

    https://www.nbcmiami.com/news/local...in-florida-as-death-toll-passes-3300/2253687/

    https://news.wgcu.org/2020-06-26/new-coronavirus-cases-top-5-000-in-florida-for-second-straight-day

    https://www.wusf.org/latest-on-coro...tatewide-more-testing-sites-opening-and-more/

Plus several hundred more sources in Florida reporting 46 deaths for Thursday found in Google.

Last time. Either provide the source for your repeated claims or alter your original statement. Otherwise I'm ignoring you from this point on as you have shown yourself to be unable to provide sources when asked. You would expect me to back up my assertions, have the common decency to return the favor.

I shouldn't have to hunt around to find your claim.

You said "All of the Florida Papers" are saying the death count for Thursday was 46. IF this is true, it should be extremely simple for you to point out.
