Total fear mongering and hyperbolic commentary. I'd like to call your attention to the actual study (which was buried in link after link after link, all sending you on a wild goose chase through the "bestlifeonline" site). Here is the actual study: https://assets.publishing.service.g..._note_on_B.1.1.7_severity_for_SAGE_77__1_.pdf Feel free to read the technical jargon, but then it says Based on these analyses, there is a realistic possibility that infection with VOC B.1.1.7 is associated with an increased risk of death compared to infection with non-VOC viruses I'm sure there is a real possibility. There is a real possibility of a lot of things. That doesn't make it proven. Followed by the very next statement: It should be noted that the absolute risk of death per infection remains low. Of course it does. Then, from the "bestlifeonline" article: "If you took a man in their 60s, the average risk is that for 1,000 people who got infected, roughly 10 would be expected to, unfortunately, die with the virus. With the new variant, for 1,000 people infected, roughly 13 or 14 people might be expected to die," Vallance said. So let me get this straight. It is possible that 3 or 4 people more per one thousand patients might be expected to die from this new hyper deadly variant. Well, if true, and that's a big IF, then that's certainly not good news. But its all speculation. I guess this variant is a failure of DeSantis, then? The CDC has reported three new variants in the U.S., with B.1.1.7 being the most prevalent. As of Feb. 14, the variant has already resulted in 1,173 COVID cases in 40 states across the country. The only states that have not reported cases of the U.K. variant are Arkansas, Idaho, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, and West Virginia. According to the CDC, Florida has the most cases of the U.K. strain with 379. Ah, 40 states. DeSantis does get around! GWB, I gotta tell you (again). You're a total clueless yambag.
Yes... so the study supports everything asserted by the articles.... both the transmission and infection are up 30% to 70% Yet DeSantis does nothing.... as it spreads all over Florida.
The study has a hypothesis, not facts. It uses words like "possibly" and "might". Even the numbers it uses in these hypotheticals and belief statements aren't all that alarming (an additional 3 or 4 per 1000). Even if true - which is unknown at this point - wake me up when there are an additional 100 deaths per 1000. That would be news. And please state all the other governor's actions in the 40 states the variant is in according to the CDC so we can compare them to the feeble DeSantis to show how poor his actions are. This is assuming the testing facilities can detect the variant, which is a REAL STRETCH at this point. I'll wait.
Just what we need --- a wave of highly infectious death and misery spreading from Florida to other states since your governor is a non-scientific dumbass and won't take proper public health policy action to address this urgent problem.
Right you said this. So what awesome steps of mitigation are all the other governors or your hero Biden doing in response to this? I await enlightenment. Tell me what DeSantis can do right now that other governors are doing. Don't quote CDC guidelines or ways to stop the spread - we've heard you regurgitate this over and over ad nauseum. What are other governors doing? Surely they are doing such a great job, right?
So nothing to show on what the other governors are doing, right? You've gone AWOL again, GWB. Hey, I know, maybe dailydol has something you can look up? Has to be an article in your google spam somewhere that can throw you a bone.
While we're waiting from GWB to show some wisdom on all the governor activities that are exemplary making DeSantis look like a fool (I'm sure he's busy researching), get a LAUGH at this: MSNBC with the hard, obvious question. Huh.
Tell us why DeSantis' hides the COVID data from Florida. Even refusing to reveal state data on COVID variant cases.
