Yesterday's reported deaths in NC vs. Florida (with twice the population and way more elderly). Of course, this is because DeSantis is messing with the statistics in both states.
There was something about 100 deaths per day recently. Data I have shows as of yesterday, rolling 7 day average to be 106 (and as chart shows clearly, for anyone not wearing blinders) it is rising considerably. Also note swing low Nov 6th hmmm:-
Unlike Florida -- North Carolina is following the CDC recommendations and best public health practices. We have a mask mandate, curfew, and other appropriate restrictions in place. Our governor regularly outlines our response based on science and what a critical situation COVID is. Our counties have COVID zone ratings and impose restrictions on dining, gyms, and businesses appropriately based on the local pervasive level of COVD. Many schools are closed for in-person learning when the level of COVID in the community is high. And the best you can come up in a comparison is that North Carolina has one recent day with a high number of reported deaths. Not to mention that it was a university research reconciliation day --- you know the day when all the university medical researchers have their their feedback included after reviewing all the COVID data in our state. DeSantis won't even share Florida's data with university researchers - can you explain why?
That's outstanding. But NC is still having big problems in case growth. Frankly, I couldn't care less what happens in your little state. Honestly. You're the one who is literally obsessed with Ron DeSantis and the state of Florida. I post the NC comparison (or other states) to show that the only thing that matters - the numbers - are just as bad in other states. If DeSantis were truly the demon you make him out to be, the situation in Florida would be vastly worse. But it isn't. And it is economically doing well. So I just laugh at you. You're the court jester around here. Assuming DeSantis is doing all the things you do, I'm sure he has his reasons. As to whether he is or not, or why, I couldn't give a shit. Not. One. Shit. If the numbers change and we start doing vastly worse than the rest of the country, or economically we are shut down, I'll be the first to join the "hang DeSantis" train. Until then, I won't. And you can do what you always do. Shout at the rain.
Sadly you are stuck on DeSantis being your hero. In your eyes he can do no wrong. He could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody --- and still you would support him. The problem is leadership matters. DeSantis displays nearly all the faults of Trump as a leader -- and Trump has been a disaster for the U.S. DeSantis refuses to follow science or facts --- and prefers to create his own political fantasy narrative. As a foundation -- it is critical that state and local governments are fully transparent with data in a public health crisis. Governors and other officials must not manipulate or hide data for political purposes. This is one of the very foundations for people having trust in government. I would not criticize DeSantis if he was fully honest with the data but decided to make policy decisions to keep businesses, etc. open in context of realistic data and facts. However hiding data and spouting a bunch of falsehoods on everything from masks to positivity rate -- to support his political agenda -- is unacceptable.
Not even close. The only statement I will make is that he has handled Florida's pandemic reaction in a balanced, measured approach that considers the economy as well as the virus. Something that has earned him ire from all the Chicken Littles out there who are promoting fear and panic. Like yourself, for instance. Because your "science" and "facts" are nothing more than narrative. And fortunately DeSantis gets this and doesn't succumb to it. So we, in Florida, don't suffer more than we have to economically. Let's be honest. If DeSantis cured cancer you would blame him for hating on tumor cells. To even suggest you are a balanced, fair individual who gives people an honest hand shake is a laughable thought. Let's not forget you're the guy who said that not wearing a mask was the same as putting a gun to your head and pulling the trigger.
