Note the tests used by Elon Musk are rapid tests which are not rapid. Very few states even have rapid COVID tests available. Nearly all are using PCR tests which are very accurate currently but require a couple of days to get results.

    1. I thought we just learned Fauci knew that the PCR tests can have significant false positives... even back in July.

    and

    2. I read that multiple experts have said the PCR test does find the RNA of the virus but it does not necessarily mean the person is positive for an active infection at that time?

Now... normally I challenge you when you are lying...
I am not saying you are lying on this... I do not have enough info to know anything on this issue as I only learned about it today.

So... I am not saying you are wrong...

So if you know more... produce the links.

The accuracy of PCR tests have greatly improved in recent months. In the early months PCR tests had significant accuracy issues (some imported ones did not work at all). Now the situation has improved greatly. This has been discussed previously.

Molecular PCR tests are "incredibly accurate" (according to some medical experts quoted in articles) and reliable because these tests look for coronavirus markers in the ribonucleic acid (RNA), part of DNA, and are more sensitive. PCR tests typically take a day or more to get results.

Antigen rapid tests are not accurate at all. Medical institutions do not consider them accurate enough to test their staff.

Here is a study of COVID PCR test accuracy (Sept 2020) - https://ebm.bmj.com/content/early/2...aign=ebm&utm_content=latest&utm_term=19102020

Here is a recent article on Antigen tests:
Accuracy Concerns Continue to Surround Rapid Antigen Tests for COVID-19

Did you read your first link?

They do not even have a reference standard. Sounds worse than we could possibly imagine.

Please tell me there really is an objective test indicating a person has a live virus and is infectious. Tell me this is not voodoo.

Those with scientific background and knowledge will review the study and recognize that the math is stating that PCR tests are pretty accurate.

You went from incredibly accurate to pretty accurate in the next post. Not a good sign. I guess I am going to have research this myself. If there is no reference standard... we could have a very serious problem with testing and accuracy.

I appreciate your attempt at redirection once again. But I'm sorry, we can't move on until you are able to show that Florida is so much worse than other states in regards to nursing homes or retirement homes, or hell, any data. If DeSantis' policies were so bad as you claimed, we'd see the effect on the population. But since you can't show any overt effect from these supposed horrible policies, then you can't make the case that anything you claim is causing "more deaths".

    1. You pointed out the AARP report as evidence.

    2. I pulled the AARP report from the article you posted, reviewed the actual data and posted the actual charts showing Florida is much improved from August, and better than the national average.

    3. You didn't like this data and told me to check the most recent data.

    4. There is no more recent data, as the new AARP report hasn't come out yet. So you lied. Again. Or you have an inside source at the AARP which provided you data that hasn't been publicly released yet. I'll bet on which alternative is most likely.

So again, either show the data that says Florida is much worse - the DATA - or continue to shout at the rain about how bad DeSantis is, without providing evidence that his supposed actions are causing all this bad stuff you claim.

Once again you desperately cling to a couple of information points that are two months old while ignoring all the other information in the AARP report showing Florida's nursing homes performing poorly in terms of COVID compared to the rest of the nation including:
    • Nursing homes with confirmed cases - Florida is worse than the U.S. average - 33.7% versus U.S. 25.7% (four weeks)
    • Nursing homes with confirmed staff cases - Florida is worse that the U.S. average - 61.1% versus U.S. 52.6% (four weeks)
An there are many other data points in the report that you should evaluate -- yet you only focus on two charts -- knowing that death charts related to Florida will show a decline at the end due to their under-reporting of COVID deaths in recent weeks.

At the same time you ignore that many local Florida news reports in recent days showing the dire situation in Florida's nursing homes. Let's provide an example once again:

COVID infections surge in Florida nursing homes. Hialeah home leads state with 69 deaths
    https://www.miamiherald.com/news/coronavirus/article247430840.html

All the things that DeSantis claimed that Cuomo did wrong with nursing homes, DeSantis is doing... and worse. All of them against public health recommendations to "protect the vulnerable". These include:
    • Placing COVID positive patients in nursing homes. Which was so disastrous they had to stop by the end of October in Florida. Yet DeSantis still prattles on about Cuomo doing this.
    • Cutting funding to test staff and patients in nursing homes.
    • Allowing families to come visit nursing homes and hug the patients.
    • Allowing families to take patients home and return them with no COVID testing.
It's time for you to admit that DeSantis is not "protecting the vulnerable" in Florida from COVID. His "herd immunity" policies are not effective and poorly guided. His policies have not helped Florida's economy which still lags the nation in economic performance and employment.

Dr. Ashby: Governor DeSantis making Florida ‘epicenter of the pandemic’
Regarding Governor Ron DeSantis’ inaction on tackling the ongoing pandemic. Dr. Bernard Ashby says, "At first, I thought he was misinformed. But it appears, he actually doesn't understand the severity of the pandemic. And he's actively making decisions to ensure that Florida will be the epicenter of the pandemic."

He has simply dug himself in too deep now. Like Brownback in Kansas, another utter failure of GOP values in leadership.
