So this is interesting. From the AARP Dashboard in your second link (you have to go find it, of course, it isn't readily provided, and the data isn't either).

Now this part we never hear about. Florida data has been falling for Nursing Home deaths AND cases vs. the national average. If the actions DeSantis is taking are so horrible for nursing homes, how can this be?

Staffing shortages and PPE equipment shortages seem to be considerably less than the national average. and they have been since the beginning of August, according to this data. But didn't you - GWB - tell us there were shortages? I'll have to go back and check this thread to be sure.

Staff COVID cases have dropped below the average as well.

    LOL! And North Carolina??

Oops. I just picked that state for fun. Clearly above the US Average on both cases and deaths. Must be DeSantis again!

Of course it isn't! Don't be silly.

But you have a hard on for going after DeSantis, so you should be able to show that his actions are having a deleterious effect on the Nursing Home population like you claim. But the data isn't showing this at all! So...how does that work again?

If you're going to say a governor is harming his citizens - intentionally by your silly claim - then you have to show they are being harmed. If you can't, at least if you can't show the data being worse than other states, then you have a bit of a quandary, don't you.

  3. GWB you should focus on the shit show going on in NC... how did one of your districts elect this guy:

This November, 25-year-old Madison Cawthorn of North Carolina was elected to the House of Representatives, making him one of the youngest people to ever serve in Congress. Cawthorne posted, deleted, and then re-posted a picture of himself visiting "the vacation house of the Führer," saying his trip to Hitler's home was on his "bucket list." On his website, Cawthorn wrote that his opponent, Moe Davis, left his previous job "to work for non-white males, like Cory Booker, who aims to ruin white males running for office." Cawthorn is under fire yet again for comments made during an interview with Jewish Insider. While speaking with the Jewish magazine, Cawthorn proudly described his attempts to convert "a lot" of Jews to Christianity.

Like does that district have running water and indoor toilets?

    LOL! Too funny.

But that's in the Cawthorn for the Win thread that GWB started a few months back.

Yes -- Madison Cawthorn was elected to represent the 11th Congressional District deep in the western mountains of North Carolina. A lot of the district does not have running water and indoor toilets. The current map of the district makes it one of the most impoverished, white, and conservative districts in the country.

If you think that Madison Cawthorn is a bit "off" --- wait till you see the Republican state legislators that this mountain area sent to Raleigh in recent years. Comparatively they make Madison Cawthorn look sane.

Hey GWB - no comments on the data from the AARP's survey on Florida vs. other states (like NC) in nursing home statistics? In particular, how it runs contrary to your case about Florida being the worst?

So the governors of other states have imposed restrictions on their nursing homes as COVID cases rose across the state in order to protect the vulnerable. Can you explain why Florida is failing to protect the vulnerable?

First we'd have to agree Florida is "failing to protect the vulnerable". The numbers the AARP report shows massive improvement, much better than the national average (which you claimed they were so horrible at).

Let's get back to what the actual AARP report published on October 14th actually said:

A national COVID “dashboard” released Wednesday by AARP shows that the death rate of Florida nursing-home residents over a recent four-week period exceeded the national average.

The AARP online site, which looks at nursing-home data for four weeks ending Sept. 20, shows that 1.38 of every 200 nursing home residents in Florida died from COVID-19. Nationally, about one out of every 200 nursing home residents died from COVID-19.

I would urge people to read the entire AARP report from Florida to get better context and information:
    https://www.aarp.org/content/dam/aa...nursing-home-dashboard-november-2020-aarp.pdf

Nursing homes with confirmed cases - Florida is worse than the U.S. average - 33.7% versus U.S. 25.7% (four weeks)
Nursing homes with confirmed staff cases - Florida is worse that the U.S. average - 61.1% versus U.S. 52.6% (four weeks)
