Ouch! North Carolina should have learned those lessons, too!! and Georgia. And Texas. And Louisiana...
Let's take a look at what Trump said about deaths in a hurricane. Trump’s False Tweets on Hurricane Maria’s Death Toll https://www.factcheck.org/2018/09/trumps-false-tweets-on-hurricane-marias-death-toll/ In a pair of early morning tweets, President Donald Trump rejected Puerto Rico’s official estimate of 2,975 hurricane-related deaths after Hurricane Maria and, in the process, made some false and misleading claims: Trump said that “3,000 people did not die in the two hurricanes that hit Puerto Rico,” putting the number at “anywhere from 6 to 18 deaths.” Puerto Rico initially estimated that there were 64 deaths caused by the hurricane, but it has since accepted an independent estimate that there were 2,975 hurricane-related deaths over about six months. Trump falsely claimed the higher death estimate “was done by the Democrats in order to make me look as bad as possible.” The independent study was commissioned by Puerto Rico and done by researchers at George Washington University’s Milken Institute School of Public Health. Seeing that California has about twice the population as Florida - the deaths per capita in California are much lower than Florida. Every state should have learned the lessons from the early days of battling COVID in the U.S. Sadly none of the lessons sunk in for the governors of the states of Florida and Georgia who failed to enact appropriate public health policies and were less than transparent with data for political purposes. Georgia is now in such crisis that the Trump White House is demanding that the state take further mitigation measures.
So, just so I understand your hilarity - Florida and Georgia are the only states that should have learned the lessons, but didn't? Is this a correct interpretation of your statement?
Keep posting the stupidity Trump said, while at the same time ignoring that you wanted people to go take their boats out in a hurricane for the simple aspect of them not having the same political views as your own. This is all it comes down to.
As noted earlier... North Carolina has learned the lessons. Florida's political leadership has not. At every briefing Governor Cooper of North Carolina emphasizes that COVID-19 is a critical public health situation and that we need to be cautious & realistic. At the briefings he has leading scientific advisors with him who present the facts -- rather than political fiction. Under Cooper's leadership North Carolina -- based on scientific facts -- remains in Phase 2 of the re-opening which has just been extended for another 5 weeks into September. Even some of the portions of Phase 2 have been rolled back based on the realities that state is facing with COVID. North Carolina has a face mask law and other laws in place to reduce the spread of COVID while keeping medical facilities open for elective surgery, restaurants open at 50% capacity, and one of the most realistic & flexible school re-opening plans in the nation. Our gyms are not opened. Our bars are not opened. We are only allowed to gather 10 people in an indoor space and 25 in an outdoor space. Our state tests COVID positive people before they are allowed to return to work. What are the results of implementing proper COVID policy base on science? North Carolina has half the population of Florida (10.5 Million versus 21.5 million). However we have only one quarter of COVID cases (135,000 versus 527,000) and one quarter of COVID deaths (2,184 versus 8,108) as of August 9th. So the bottom line is that the COVID response in North Carolina has been much more effective than Florida -- and as each week goes on the gap just widens due to Florida's ineffective leadership.
You can make up all the ridiculous commentary you want (and I'm sure you will) but every time a resurgence of the virus happens somewhere other than Florida, you're going to have to scramble to tell us why it is happening there - and its not because of the same reasons its happening in Florida. So funny.
I was just thinking that their glorified leader believes that hurricanes will provide great deals on boats to the other residents of Florida. Won't you think of the great deals. Especially since Trump doesn't think hurricanes are a threat since you can simply nuke them.
