Something to consider is that States like Florida May benefit from having late infection spikes. We have actually learned a few things that work and reduce mortality in patients with severe Covid infections.

  4. DeSantis thinks the pandemic is caused by testing: Gov. Ron DeSantis said Tuesday the increase in number of coronavirus cases was expected because of the increased testing throughout the state. "As you test more, you will see more cases," the governor said.

I can't find the clip but it is out there where Trump said that "if we didn't test there
    wouldn't be any cases."

DeSantis is correct. As you test more, you see more cases. Nowhere did DeSantis say that if we don't test more, there won't be cases. There just won't be records of cases. This is understood by anyone with an IQ over 85. Trump doesn't qualify as over 85 IQ, so you can't count him. His comment was asinine. As usual.

  8. This is a good example of Republicans vs Science

    Both didn't work out.

Ventillators were an insurance that was in line with scientific advice to prepare for an eventuality of a not flattened curve. They took action, the curve was managed and the put option expired.

Hydroxychloroquine was a drug touted by the moron leader of Republican party, against all scientific evidence, just to try to act like he knew what he was doing. De Santis, as a loyal lapdog said Yes Sir, whatever you say Sir and made this decision.

Republicans see these two as equivalent. I do not.

Not to mention the financial impact to the U.S. caused by stockpiling a drug that is not effective at all in treating COVID-19 -- based on poor Trump administration public health policy.

US stockpile stuck with 63 million doses of hydroxychloroquine
    https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/17/health/hydroxychloroquine-national-stockpile/index.html

The federal government is stuck with 63 million doses of hydroxychloroquine now that the US Food and Drug Administration has revoked permission for the drug to be distributed to treat coronavirus patients.

The government started stockpiling donated hydroxychloroquine in late March, after President Trump touted it as "very encouraging" and "very powerful" and a "game-changer."

But Monday, the FDA revoked its emergency use authorization to use the drug to treat Covid-19, saying there was "no reason to believe" the drug was effective against the virus, and that it increased the risk of side effects, including heart problems.

That leaves the Strategic National Stockpile with 63 million doses of hydroxychloroquine, plus another 2 million doses of chloroquine, a related drug donated by Bayer, according to Carol Danko, a spokesperson for the US Department of Health and Human Services

Many public health experts point to all of this as an unfortunate chapter in the history of the pandemic thus far.

"Nationally, we put a great emphasis on one drug, hydroxychloroquine," said David Holtgrave, the dean of the School of Public Health at the University at Albany, who co-authored a study of the drug as a treatment for coronavirus. "I worry that history will judge this as having over-invested in one treatment pathway as opposed to looking more broadly at a larger number of treatment candidates."

Its amazing to me that you could take a panic reaction by a NY Democrat governor and turn it into science vs republicans.

Hydroxy and zinc and hydroxy plus something else... still has data and studies supporting it.
Our problem is not with science and data...

The problem is when people like you think they know science and act like we should not challenge what the authorities say... even though we know they lie.

    Regarding Hydroxy...
In my opinion (which is just from reading many of the studies)

It has been established enough for me that Hydroxy alone given to very sick people has not been shown to be efficacious and Hydroxy alone at any point in the cycle of Covid may not be efficacious.

However, There are some studies and data showing Hydoxychloroquine plus zinc or a zpak given before seriousness illness helps with outcomes.

Has that been conclusively established... in my opinion no.

But, I dont think we can rule it out either.

So pretending someone who does not agree with the you or the CDC ruling is anti science is bullshit and illogical.

Science is data and repeatable experiments.
Scientific opinion is useful when we need help interpreting the data.
But.. a scientist or the CDC giving their opinion and not providing comprehensive data and repeatable science is not necessarily science.

For instance Fauci and the CDC say masks are necessary. Earlier they said they were not necessary and Fauci admitted he lied.
THe WHO says they are only necessary for treating sick people.

    So which is science?
I say none of it. The data is not convincing and experts differ.
Masks and social distancing and isolating the high risk seems to help.
Do the masks themselves do much for healthy people?
Its doubtful from the studies I read ... but not impossible.
For instance some stranger outside a hospital with a pneumonia could be hacking and it could save you.
    maybe...
