Any minute and all hell is going to break loose in Minnesota and all over the USA if Chauvin is found innocent on all charges.
Only a judge can nullify a jury, the defense cannot appeal a jury decision just because they think it was unfair, that is what voir dire and pre-trial motions are for. So the decision of a fair trial was already addressed pre-trial for the most part. I have never really heard of juries being harrassed after the case like that. Their information is not public if I recall unless a juror decides themselves to go on TV.
Yeh, you are running off in unfruitful directions in your mind. Jury nullification is not a factor here. And appeals courts exist to review all sort of due process issues that may - and in fact do every day- result in retrials, dismissals, etc. etc of matters where the case had been allowed to proceed to trial , including a jury decision. Sheesh. In any case, my question was whether at any point the defense asked for a change of venue. If you did not know, just say that. Did not ask whether you agreed with it or a bunch of crabwalking over to other issues. For the rest of you, I checked. The defense did in fact request a change of venue. Which was obviously denied. Sheesh.
The jury has miscarried justice out of Leftist emotion. He was not guilty under the law of either 2nd or 3rd degree murder and I expect a vigorous appeal. The devastation of numbers and service that will befall police depts across the country cannot be underestimated.
I guess all guys who were dead wrong can gear up to defend the white trash that shot Ahmaud Arbery in May.
Police departments should be relieved that justice prevailed and bad cops were held accountable for unnecessary felony assaults.
