Dennis Gartman's Rules for Trading

  1. He really is that bad. Surf was in his league in so far as doing the absolutely worst thing at the worst possible time. Someone told me a few months back that Gartman had once given decent advice...So it appears that this market (in its current state) generates liquidity off of constantly trapping the "Gartman's" of the world...(i.e. those who enter on "confirmation" or some other ridiculously obvious set-up).

(In 1989, it's very possible that his above advice would have been worthwhile...These are "modern markets").

  2. It's hard for any of them to give 10 recommendations a day , day in and day out and be correct.
But.....I think a lot of these 'special guests' are only brought on tv because they can talk fast in 10 second soundbites, they are relatively attractive and because they are able to make themselves available when they are needed......

Not necessarily because they are the best at what they do.

  3. I think it is key to understand what they do ... they talk not trade. There is one I like and he is the Swiss/German guy that publishes The DOOM, GLOOM and BOOM LETTER. I have never seen his letter but always enjoy his TV slots. Tons of fun and sufficiently convoluted to take away whatever your prejudice was going in.

I frequently think I agree with him but am never positive I know what he said. His is a rare talent!!
