Though no longer surprising, it's still amazing to me how our representatives blow with the political breezes. It's our fault as a populace actually...like good traders they are simply doing what works and taking advantage of a major "market" inefficiency. JB
Agreed, it is collectively our fault. Almost everyone complains about the inept inefficiencies of congress and yet we keep re-electing the same career politicians over and over. Most would agree we need a balanced budget, so long as the cuts don't affect them personally. Many would like to see a simplified tax structure, so long as they don't loose their deductions. We're a nation of self indulging hypocrites and we're getting exactly what we have asked for.
I think the Bush campaign needs to make a commercial with those quotes in it and run it over and over. The Dem's have shamelessly demagogued this issue and told incredible lies, all to weaken a wartime president. I don't have a problem with legitimate criticism, and I have offered plenty of it directed at Bush, but for windbags like Ted Kennedy to go TV and accuse the President of "lying" about the WMD is outrageous. The fact is everyone thought Saddam had WMD's and a viable nuclear program. For all we know, he did and managed to hide, destroy or ship parts of it to syria.
